I mean, I was head over heels for one guy for ten full years. Honestly? That final year felt just as intense as the first day..😳

Okay, hold up—you weren't "in love" with him, you loved him for ten years... there's a massive difference. People constantly mix up being infatuated with actually loving someone. You can fall in love with a pair of designer shoes or some flashy jewelry; you get obsessed for a bit, then they get old and you toss them in a closet or lose them somewhere. But you don't *love* a person like that. When you truly love someone—flaws, quirks, everything included—that doesn't just evaporate. Not after spending such a huge, beautiful chunk of your life building memories together..
So, I was just reading some stuff about being in love—you know, whether there’s actually a set expiration date on that whole feeling. Honestly, that show they were talking about felt totally off base. Like, saying a mother can't "fall in love" with her baby because it's just part of some biological process? That's such a flawed theory. Moms love their kids. Period. And even when they grow up and aren't those tiny, cute little things anymore, that love stays. It becomes this thing you choose, a purpose, a gift you've built with your own will. To me, if anyone asks "what's the point of living?", that right there is the answer. But then you have regular "falling in love," which is different. You see someone and—boom—it's their smile, their eyes, their body, whatever. In my book, that phase lasts exactly as long as you haven't memorized every single detail. Once your brain builds this perfect, hyper-detailed mental image of them, you start to get bored. You stop missing the little things because you've got them all filed away in your head. Then, once they're gone, you start missing them again because you can't just conjure them up. Anyway, that's why "being in love" and "loving someone" are two completely different animals. I read a whole deep dive on this earlier, but man, it was a massive essay... lol.
