I guess this is just how we Americans are... like people say, we basically handed over our souls to whoever is leading us; you could do just about anything to us and we’d just stay quiet... take cigarette prices, for example—they're some of the highest in the Western world right now...
That’s why all our bright minds head overseas... and not just to join a diaspora, but to actually move away for good... and you only ever hear about them when they make it big...
The rest of them, whether it’s your buddy, your neighbor, or whoever else... it always boils down to shouting "down with the Democrats"... even though half of those same people probably bought their houses or apartments back in the day using loans from the old regime that they paid off for next to nothing... maybe just a few thousand bucks...
I agree with you on almost everything, except for the cigarette thing.😉 I don't think that's the best example to use here.
As for the people moving "abroad," I don't know. I had a neighbor who moved back to the States, and for the first few days, he wouldn't stop raving about the Republican Party. Apparently, that was the only political entity he ever heard about while he was away. But after living back home for a year, he packed up and headed back to Germany, heartbroken and completely broke.
He doesn't even love America anymore. 😢 I won't get into the specifics of why he had to leave again; everyone knows what happened.
