Basically, the bank tried to pull this stunt where they wanted me to sign on as a guarantor for 15 years before they'd even consider our application. Total nonsense. So, naturally, we walked away.

Hey there!
So, we’re looking into applying for a 12-month mortgage moratorium. My wife is going to be home for about a year to care for our child, who’s dealing with some developmental challenges—she actually managed to get some leave approved, but her income is going to take a hit. The plan is that we'd just be covering the $267 interest (rather than the full $733 monthly payment), and they'd basically push the principal portion further down the road. When we first went in to chat about it, my wife's personal banker started making these weird comments about her changing her last name and then brought me up as the guarantor? I can't tell if that's actually standard procedure or if she's just bluffing us.
