I remember stumbling upon some theory a while back—I honestly can’t recall if it holds any water or if it was just internet pseudo-science... but here it is: 🙂

The gist of it is that our brains are constantly scanning everyone around us based on physical appearance—completely subconsciously, of course. Apparently, there's this biological drive where we seek out someone whose traits are the polar opposite of our own—both physically and psychologically—essentially aiming to create the most "optimized" offspring possible 😁. And, if my memory serves me right, the very first thing the brain registers is skin tone; it uses complexion as a sort of visual shorthand to gauge how healthy a person actually is 😲. According to that researcher 😁, that's the absolute baseline requirement. When you step back and look at it, there's a certain cold logic to it, isn't there? 🙂 Though, I have to admit, I'd love to hear a real expert weigh in on this stuff. I tried digging for more data online, but everything felt a bit thin, so I eventually just gave up on the rabbit hole 🤷
