Getting a loan through an Austrian bank in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
steeltrucker10 said:Look, Scott Taylor8, do you honestly think I'm stupid? Why don't you man up and give me a call over at Bank of America? But listen close to what my wife has to say about this. It’s easy for you to talk trash about us from behind a screen, but maybe you wouldn't be so bold if you actually had to face us—especially since you've got such a great reputation to protect. So, quit picking on people. This forum isn't the place for this kind of nonsense, and frankly, I don't think you have anything left to contribute here. Just leave us alone.

I never said you were stupid, and I certainly didn't imply it. My impression was just that you were pushing wrong information for your own benefit, which is why I reacted. But that doesn't mean I'm taking your accusations personally; I wasn't being insulting, I haven't called anyone stupid, and I definitely haven't been talking trash about anyone!

Scott Taylor8 isn't my actual name, it's just my handle. Even if it were my real name, that’s my business, not yours. I don't judge people based on their names.

I'm not calling anyone out. As long as the admins allow people to express their opinions in a civil way, I don't think you have any right to tell me—or anyone else—that "I don't have anything to contribute" or that I should "leave you all alone."

And for the record, it's not that I'm too scared to call Austria; I actually have a loan with an Austrian bank that I opened three years ago.
Let the rest of you users decide who's actually being disrespectful here.

Well, I just got off the phone with someone in Austria myself, and they told me you need a 1:16 mortgage ratio and a 22% interest rate (they actually claimed they picked 22% just because it’s lower than our sales tax).

Look, steeltrucker10 and Jonathan Ward59, if your goal is just to make people look stupid, then at least be honest about why you're doing it. Maybe you work for one of the big banks and you're terrified of losing your job if everyone decides to move abroad? If people head overseas to grab loans at interest rates of maybe 2-3%, or even 4.5 to 5%—which is still a massive difference compared to the 7% we deal with here—then fine, go ahead and hide the truth. But seriously, what's the endgame here?
