paranoid personality disorder on Reddit in Psychology ·
Eric Gray2 said:You aren't going to find that here, sorry. To be honest, I’d have serious doubts about the expertise—and the actual intentions—of any Reddit user who gives you a single, definitive answer to a question like that.

Alright, thanks anyway. 🙂

Eric Gray2 said:Look, it’s one thing to ask about symptoms or how something works, but you seem to be looking for a formal diagnosis. Honestly, what would you even gain from having some stranger online type out, "Yeah, that sounds exactly like this specific disorder"? What would actually change in your life or in how you interact with the person you're describing? How would knowing that make things easier for you or them—how would it actually improve anyone's quality of life?

Look, I was just making an educated guess based on what I've read online—and honestly, a ton of what I've found seems to line up perfectly with this specific disorder. I was just looking for some validation because I figured there might be people on Reddit who actually know more about psychology and psychiatry than I do. And trust me, it would change a lot. First off, it changes my entire perspective; I won't be looking at this person as just some "normal" individual anymore if they have a clinical condition. Second, maybe I'm actually in danger here. Maybe one day this person could actually lash out at me, and it eats at me knowing they're suffering through this (assuming they are). I'd love to sit down and have a real talk with them about it, but I need to be 100% sure of what I'm dealing with before I take that step. You can't just walk up to someone and say, "Hey, you should probably go see a psychiatrist because you seem a little unstable," and expect them to just go. It doesn't work like that.

Anything you hear on a Reddit thread—any kind of "diagnosis" being thrown around—is basically just guesswork at best.

Alright, I see people asking all sorts of things on this Reddit, debating every possible phobia and disorder under the sun, so I just wanted to throw this out there. If someone was actually planning on seeing a psychiatrist, they probably wouldn't be sitting here obsessing over the details of their disorder, right? 🤷

Hey everyone, since whenever I try to bring up anything related to paranoid personality disorder the mods shut the thread down faster than a local diner during a blizzard, I figured I’d just drop my question here. So, look, there’s someone very close to me, and I’m pretty convinced they’re dealing with this specific disorder. It’s getting hard to ignore. They basically have zero trust in anyone—just a constant, gnawing feeling that people are out to get them or trying to pull a fast one. It’s relentless. On top of that, the checking behavior is off the charts. We're talking constant spying, calling from blocked numbers, snooping through texts of the people they’re actually supposed to be close to... it's exhausting. There's this weird, pathological jealousy, too, mixed with this intense "love-hate" vibe where they oscillate between being obsessed with someone and absolutely loathing them. They're always on edge, super combative, and aggressive. Honestly, they can't just sit still and relax for five minutes without something setting them off. Does this sound like classic paranoid personality disorder to you all, or am I looking at something else entirely?
