Growing up, my old man used to lay hands on me. It happened all the time when I was around 12 or 13. Honestly? I remember being terrified of him. It wasn't respect—it was just straight-up fear.
Those beatings kept me from doing all sorts of stupid stuff, sure, but I never actually understood *why* certain things were off-limits. I just knew if I did this or that, I was going to get hit.
That’s how kids who deal with physical punishment feel. Deep down, it's just pure anxiety.
I'm firmly against corporal punishment. Period.
