Does anyone else feel like travel is losing its magic? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I was looking through some old travel logs recently and realized how much the whole "vibe" of a trip changes depending on whether you're there for the scenery or just to catch a specific event. Lately, it feels like half the people I travel with are just chasing a schedule or a specific moment, rather than actually soaking in the place they're visiting.

It’s a weird feeling when you realize you've traveled halfway across a continent just to stand in a different stadium or a different arena. Don't get me wrong, I love a good matchup or a live event as much as the next person, but sometimes I wonder if we're just exporting our own routines to new zip codes instead of actually experiencing something new. It's like we're just bringing our own little bubbles with us.

Has anyone else found themselves traveling specifically for a single event, only to realize later that the "destination" part of the trip felt like an afterthought?
Chatty people—honestly, I just can't deal with folks who talk just to hear themselves speak. Then there are the cold, insensitive types, or those exhausting people who leave you feeling physically drained, almost like you’ve spent a week digging trenches in the backyard after even the smallest bit of small talk. I also struggle with people who refuse to read anything, those whose opinions and actions change whenever it suits them, or those who are so incredibly phlegmatic that you can never get a single genuine reaction out of them. It's hard being around unreliable, irresponsible people, or those who simply don't know how to listen and lack basic manners—you know, the type who stares off into space while you're talking, won't make eye contact, or just cuts you off mid-sentence to pivot to some completely irrelevant topic. Oh, and I've always found it incredibly irritating when people drop all their friends the moment they get into a relationship, acting like their new partner is some sort of Greek god or goddess. I wouldn't call myself a confrontational person, I really wouldn't, but that kind of behavior just gets under my skin.
