Greetings,

I was watching a movie yesterday and intended to pick up where I left off today, only to find myself met with total silence... there's no sound at all. My cat had a few minutes of unsupervised access to my laptop earlier; she has a rather unfortunate habit of wandering across the keyboard and lounging on the keys. I suspect she might have toggled some setting, though I've scanned the interface and can't find a single icon indicating that anything has been muted or disabled...
To complicate matters, I attempted to install a new version of YouTube yesterday, which ended up freezing mid-process. It sat there indefinitely, stuck on an "initializing" screen that refused to respond to any attempt to close it. I can't help but wonder if, in my haste to update YouTube, I inadvertently invited a virus onto my system?
My machine is a Lenovo, only a few months old, running Windows 8.
I am at my wit's end here, friends. Please, I'm desperate...😵

Aha. So, there might be a way to navigate this through some sort of freelance side hustle, I suppose...🙄
Ah, these endless bureaucratic tangles... if luck is on my side, I’ll soon be earning enough to finally retire to the high life and leave all this nonsense behind.👍

I suspect I am touching upon a dilemma that might be weighing on others here as well. To provide some context: I have recently completed my degree, and an opportunity has surfaced to work with an overseas firm—nothing groundbreaking, essentially subtitling films—but there is a significant catch. As I understand the contract, I am prohibited from issuing an invoice as a private individual. Given the modest scale of this gig, it simply does not make financial sense to go through the headache of registering as a small business or a sole proprietorship; the tax burden would effectively swallow any potential earnings whole. Consequently, I find myself wondering if there is a legitimate way to receive foreign currency payments—roughly $667 per month—whether via direct deposit or perhaps a check, without inadvertently finding myself in hot water with the IRS.😕
