John Ruiz80 said:Guys, help—I got totally sidetracked by some outside stuff 🙂 but I'm finally back in the game... though my options feel way more limited now... I stopped by the Meadow convention center recently and the place is gorgeous. Has anyone been there lately? How’s the food? And what’s the layout like for a reception—is the florist coming from one of those big hotels?? Also, does anyone know if they have openings on 9/11 or 9/18 for up to 120 people...

Also, I need a solid DJ who can actually handle mixing a bunch of different styles without crashing and burning!!

Or maybe just a decent, budget-friendly band 🙂 nothing crazy, I'm keeping it modest 😉

Sinclair, Lisijak... send me their info and rates... also looking for photo recs... Thanks everyone... Can't wait to get this whole thing sorted...

I’ve never actually been to the Meadow, so I can't say for sure. Your best bet is probably to just grab the phone and call the venues directly; you might get lucky... those September dates are tough, though. September is always the busiest month for weddings!!!
There are plenty of bands out there, but how "budget-friendly" are we talking?? Give me a ballpark figure...
For photographers, you can find most of them on the Verve website, along with the restaurants and bands they recommend. You can check the Major League Baseball group page too...
The only thing I can offer is Sinclair's contact info, if you want me to shoot you a PM.

You could also look into Sin, or maybe Lisjaka—his rates are pretty reasonable. Studio In is decent too. As for Smith, everything previously mentioned applies. He can be a bit arrogant, bordering on rude at times. Personally, I find his work pretty terrible; they feel overpriced and a bit too "artsy" for my taste, especially since we're talking about a wedding. But hey, to each their own...

Based on what we’ve seen on their website, they seem pretty incredible...

👍
Nothing but praise so far!!! These guys are killing it!!!

Maybe I just had an off day in the kitchen. Or maybe it’s just the fact that I’ve always been more of a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy. 🤷Either way, people are strange... 😉

That space is really only meant for maybe 120 people. I mean, if you're planning a decent party... not some chaotic disaster like a crowded nightclub in downtown Chicago where you've got twenty people crammed into every square meter.

I went to a banquet over at a local steakhouse downtown where there were about 150 people, and honestly, it was way too tight. They had us squeezed eleven to a table, which made eating a decent meal pretty much impossible. They served that standard seafood menu, nothing special really—I didn't even try half the things on it, and both my boyfriend and I ended up leaving hungry. The atmosphere was nice enough and the room itself was fine, but overall, it wasn't anything to write home about. I know plenty of venues that are much better...🙂

Hey everyone, I’ve been lurking in this PDF for a while now without really jumping in, but I’m reaching out because I could use some help. A friend of mine is getting married next September, and she’s starting to plan everything since the venue, photographer, and band usually need to be booked a year in advance. For the venue, she picked Dollis in Austin, but she’s still undecided on the photographer and the band. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some solid bands or photo studios that haven't received any complaints on this thread... Regarding photography, she knows people have praised California and IN, but are there any other good options under $1,500 (not someone like photo Mark 😢)? Also, does anyone have a specific recommendation for a photographer and videographer within those studios?
As for the band—they’re looking for a group that can play both American and international rock. They want a sound that isn't too "foreign" or niche, but they also want to be able to play some local hits (just nothing like Thompson, Elvis Presley, Spears, or Joel, etc.). Ideally, the price stays under $2,000; I don't think they intend to go over that budget..
Thanks so much... 😍

Well, there’s plenty of time left. Any decent band will play whatever you want, and they shouldn't play anything you explicitly tell them to avoid. Personally, I think a "taxi band" or maybe Pink Panther might work for her; they have more of a rock vibe but they’re excellent, especially Taxi. You can find their page on Facebook, and when they have gigs at local bars, she should go hear them live. Plus, the price should fit right under that $2,000 mark. There are plenty of good photographers out there, though I'm not sure about that specific price range. She should check out Weddingstudio IN or California; both are quite good. Everything else tends to be more expensive than that. Hope that helps... Good luck!!!😉

Aaron Patel15 said:I need some hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttssssssssss fast.... white American envelopes, maybe something a bit more formal and glossy?!🤷

I picked up some textured paper over in Malibu, though I also saw that Procter & Gamble stock sitting near the Sysco and Maplewood facilities down in San Diego. I actually ended up grabbing some of those square, glossy sheets from the latter...$1.25 It’s a solid piece. You can find them in all sorts of different shapes and varieties out there...

Aaron Patel15 said:Ladies (and guys, if you're lurking), I'm assuming this question has been asked a million times already, but the threads are getting so massive it’s impossible to find anything. I need to know where to get the best deals on automotive tint film (the organdy stuff) for detailing cars and bumpers, plus some plastic wrap for baking. Any leads? Thanks!

Check out Mick Jagger over in Pasadena, Ira in that small town in the Midwest, or Rose Commerce near that small town in the Midwest. Mick Jagger is definitely your best bet for prices...🙂

Dennis Wood79 said:The DVD finally arrived and we're totally happy with it. No more second-guessing... Volar is playing on November 13th, 2010, and that's that. One less thing to worry about. 😁

The guys are incredible, seriously, no complaints whatsoever!!!!!! They played for a friend of mine once, and I actually handed them an extra hundred bucks on the spot just because she was so thrilled with the performance!
Has anyone here actually worked with the makeup artist Ana Grgić over in San Francisco??? Would love to hear some honest feedback! Thanks!
