In the actual book, the main characters—I mean, Andrea—and even Miranda aren't anything like how they were portrayed on screen. Andrea just doesn't fit the vibe, and Miranda lacks any sense of humanity. Plus, their relationship ends in a way that's totally different from the book; the movie makes it all super sugary sweet, which completely ignores the source material. If they had actually stuck to the book, the movie would have been so much better.
Between the movie and the book, I’m definitely telling you to go with the book. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not some deep, philosophical masterpiece, but it's fun and feels way more grounded and funny than the movie. It's "chick lit," sure, but not in that cliché way where the girl is constantly obsessing over how many guys she's slept with, where she went out, or how much stuff she bought. It's just... more real.

I felt so let down by the ending... I was sitting there the whole time just waiting for her to finally spit in her face....
