Does "Crazy, Confused, Normal" offend Muslims? in Close to Politics ·
Michael Diaz4 said:Ah, I missed that part. St. Louis is probably the most diverse city in the US, and honestly, it’s a massive thorn in the side of nationalists from any faith, especially those tied to the Democratic Party or the old guard. The urban core has been leaning toward social democracy for a century now—they don't call it "Red St. Louis" for nothing. The mayor is a Democratic Party guy, so he handles that crowd just fine. The real issue is that manufactured County surrounding it, which is mostly populated by more rural, traditional folks who moved in from the outskirts. That area is basically a stronghold for the Democratic Party, and it's those types of people who cause all the friction...

In Pittsburgh, this whole "multicultural" thing is pretty flexible... they tolerate the Democrats and stay civil enough, sure... but you head just a little bit outside the city limits and you see offensive graffiti sprayed on churches of all kinds, and further out near the mosques, kids get bullied just coming home from evening prayers... they aren't actually tolerant at all...
Pittsburgh isn't exactly the oasis of tolerance people claim it is. For instance, in that famous blacked-out Zenica—which is basically a Taliban stronghold—you'll see wedding parties with their flags and patriotic songs... sometimes some radical from a flower shop will throw a bouquet at a young couple, and suddenly you've got a full-blown riot in Zenica... I'm telling you, the tolerance here in Canada is a strange concept...

Benjamin Mitchell5 said:AHA, so who’s the bigot now? It seems our dear little forum "liberals" are actually bothered by

the way Muslims are portrayed in the sitcom "Modern Family." I mean, if that truly upsets you, doesn't that imply

you're spotting certain traits or behaviors that just don't sit right with your worldview? Just imagine

how narrow-minded and hypocritical that perspective really is. You all champion this idea of "globalization" or becoming more worldly, but only

on the specific terms that suit your own comfort. Personally, I have zero issues with seeing Muslims depicted in

that manner, especially since we have plenty of shows where people from California, or

other regions (like Joe from Evening School), are subject to all sorts of stereotypes. But that doesn't bother me; it only bothers

people like you, who seem determined to mold the entire world into your own perfect image.

So, I think I'll take this opportunity to call you out for being intolerant and hypocritical. Honestly,

it's quite shameful. At the end of the day, it's just a TV show. What's next? Are we going to ban all jokes about

blonde hair? It's important to be able to laugh at ourselves. Clearly, that's a concept you

haven't quite grasped yet. Your version of "freedom of speech" and expression is starting to look more and more like

pure repression to me. 👎

And what about those old Abbott and Costello routines—is that supposed to be a joke against us? You're telling us we don't know how to take a joke... maybe you just haven't heard the classics, so you're just talking nonsense... but we aren't getting angry... there will always be plenty of jokes left...

Michael Diaz4 said:Well, "The New York Post" is basically Milorad's twin brother at this point. The owner of the paper is essentially aligned with him, so it’s no surprise they push that "the worse things get, the better it is" narrative.

Elections are coming up in Canada, so we'll see if they're actually the same. But right now, I think Milorad is unbeatable when it comes to being crude, uncivilized, and nationalistic...

I can guarantee that none of those many Muslims felt insulted until they read in the papers the next day that they, as Muslims, had been offended.
History in Canada has shown just how easily the masses can be manipulated, and this time, Muslim sentiments were played like an instrument to score political points in the war being waged by the Democratic Party and the leadership of Canada...
The absolute height of stupidity—something even the most die-hard supporters and defenders of the leadership couldn't ignore—was using a Srebrenica woman as a pawn in a basic power struggle between two warring factions.
And let me add one thing. If the Muslims watching FOX were actually as sensitive as they claim, they would have found plenty of reasons to protest against various pigs portrayed in movies or cartoons by now, but they haven't...
