Unsolicited advice: Let's vent in Psychology & Therapy ·

Just troll them instead—and remember you have two ears: one for listening and one for letting it all go right out the other side.
Plus, you might as well get some entertainment out of listening to another round of their mindless advice.

Yeah, that might actually be a decent solution ☕.

Sam Hayes said:I actually know someone just like that—honestly, you should probably just let it go. It sounds like an incredibly insecure individual who decided to use you as a punching bag for all their own deep-seated frustrations... You really don't need that kind of energy in your life. I guess it's best to just let them continue existing in their own tiny, narrow little world while you focus on surrounding yourself with much more grounded, healthy people...

I suppose this solution works. But... there are plenty of people like that out there. I guess you can't exactly run away and hide from everyone all the time. 🤷

This is a pretty interesting topic 🙂.
How should one actually handle people who make judging others their full-time job?
Ignoring them doesn't work—they just keep going and end up suffocating everyone around them (and I guess nobody is truly immune to constant criticism). Getting into an argument feels like a waste of time and energy, yet the situation just keeps escalating. Maybe patience isn't the answer either.😕

Yeah, most people just choose to look the other way 👎. But not everyone does. I don't know if her brothers actually turned their backs on her (maybe they offered support right at the start of the marriage, back when she was too young to realize what was happening or that anyone was even trying to help 😕). Generally speaking, you should offer help, but the person who entered the relationship is the one driving the change. No one else can decide for me whether I stay in a marriage or leave it 🤷. Nor should they have to bear the consequences of my choices ☕.
As for the girl, maybe she could try talking to her uncles about whether they tried to step in or why they acted the way they did

I have a case in my family from a long, long time ago. A woman entered an abusive marriage, and her brothers offered to help her get out—they found her a job and a place to stay while she got back on her feet. She left her husband for a little while, but once things cooled down, she went right back to him 👎. After that, the brothers just moved on with their lives (I doubt they didn't care, I actually suspect they avoided her a bit because of the awkwardness or whatever 🤷). They left it up to her to decide if she wanted to live with that kind of man and expose her kids to violence and hate
.
These situations are difficult regardless 😢
