Is it wrong to ignore someone else's misfortune?

Look, everyone’s responsible for their own life and their own mess, but her brothers' behavior is just hard to wrap my head around—mostly because they're family. Even if they aren't the type to stick their noses in other people's business or step up against violence, you'd think they'd care about their own sister. Seeing her suffer should have hit them too, given the blood connection.
One possible explanation? They're just cowards who convinced themselves she probably had it coming. 🤷
