ruggedcyclist74 said:Did you manually type in those journal entries, or were you pulling them over from last year's data? If you were importing them, try deleting that zeroed-out entry if it's still lingering somewhere in the system, then try pulling the data again.
I've had instances where the system saves a document under 0; it won't show up in the main list, but suddenly it pops up on a customer's financial ledger. In those cases, I just navigate to the specific ledger, find the ghost entry, and delete it from there.
But if you were typing them in manually from scratch, I'm afraid we're out of luck.
P.S. Did you manage to get that little headache sorted out today?
It looks like the system is still acting up, so she's nowhere to be found??
There are plenty of those documents with "0" in the field, but they don't just vanish into thin air. I honestly think you should try searching through the list—maybe even try typing "0" directly into the document search box to see if it pops up!
Henry Edwards33 said:Thanks, but there's nothing there. It's a total void, just empty space... 😂
It doesn't really matter, though. I'll figure it out eventually. At this point, I've finally calmed down and honestly, the whole thing is just getting kind of funny. 😉
I know I probably come across as a bit silly or overly soothing right now. But hey, I'm just waiting for the day you finally show up—then you'll see what a handful I can actually be.
The first time I entered the opening balance, everything defaulted to zero, and then Synesis messed up—this time it wasn't even my fault, which is a small comfort—and wiped everything out. 🙂
They told me it’s impossible for the system to save an entry under index number 0. 😢 Even though the software is supposed to assign the document ID automatically, this keeps happening. I try to save a document—doesn't matter which one—and instead of assigning a number, the system throws a warning saying it can't save under 0 and just deletes the whole thing. 🙂
Wait, you're talking about the linguistics exam?? Honestly, I wouldn't bet on Synesis being the culprit here. I'm guessing there was a little hiccup with the index number—it happens—but the software is designed to handle the numbering itself. Sometimes if things get messy and hit zero, the data just vanishes. It’s never happened to me, though. If it does, try searching for it using the F11 key rather than looking for "0" directly. Or wait, maybe it's the other way around? Just try typing in 0 manually or look through the table. You can have as many starting balance snapshots as you need, really—or more accurately, snapshots as of a specific date.
But seriously: 🙂 ?!?
If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll try to dig through my memory for anything else.
You’ve got a point, but honestly, the anonymity of the internet just fuels this kind of behavior—people feel like they can say whatever they want since nobody actually knows who they are. That’s why I really appreciate being able to say hello to those of you I recognize as genuine, decent people here.
Yeah, it would be devastating if I were forced to shut down my shop even for a single day. Things are already tight enough as it is—if we have to close, we’re basically finished. Maybe, just maybe, the government will come up with some actual support, though lately it feels like they're working against us instead. At some point, I might just have to take the risk; let them hand out the fines if they want. It might be a faster way to end the struggle, and clearly, one more person on the unemployment rolls doesn't mean much to them anyway.
Ladies, where have you all been? There’s a massive uproar happening over the new tax compliance threads—Lili is totally overwhelmed by the chaos—and I haven't seen a single word from you guys!
I'm guessing you're all running into those same endless questions, vague rules, and "make it up as you go" solutions, right??
I jumped in with a pretty straightforward question, but honestly, it’s going to come up a lot: if a small business only has one employee (you know, the owner, a clerk, and Katie to handle everything), and the managing partner isn't technically authorized to operate the register, what happens if that employee gets sick or just wants to take five days off to hit the slopes? Is the owner forced to shut the whole shop down, or are they allowed to just use their own SSN as the cashier to cover those few days?
I remember how family businesses used to run—everyone works as one unit, stepping in for each other constantly, and the government doesn't suffocate them; they ARE allowed to work in their OWN company... I mean, seriously, who else would?!?
Anyway, just thought I'd stir the pot a little so you wouldn't get bored, but if anyone actually knows the answer, please let me know!
Has everyone just gone quiet? I feel like you all haven't even looked up from your books lately.
Well, happy new tax regulations to us—honestly, just what I needed to complete my happiness. I’ve been issuing receipts consistently for 18 years without skipping a beat, yet here we are. I can't help but wonder if that's why we're barely keeping our heads above water, and honestly, I have no idea how much longer we can hang on like this.
Henry Edwards33 said:If you’ve got a grievance, take it here. Venting in this thread just isn't productive 😛 . On a side note... believe me, you aren't the only one losing your mind over the sheer stupidity we're forced to swallow. I'm running out of steam, honestly. There are things I don't even have the energy to read anymore, yet we're still expected to deal with them 🙂 . Look, you aren't wrong, you're just in the wrong place. Feel free to start a new thread so we can all collectively roll our eyes at these ridiculous decisions 👋 .
Nah, I won't complain—why bother? Though please tell me: if one person gets hit with a ban (the heavy-handed kind??), did you really have to go and dump another one on me for the exact same thing, in the same subforum?? Thanks, friend. One person kicks me, and you show up to give me a second kick! But hey, I'm used to it, so don't worry about me. I'll admit: listening to the nonsense coming from our dear government, the Department of the Treasury, and whoever else is enough to give anyone a headache—even a ban wouldn't weigh much on me right now!! But I won't start a rant thread; let them all just go... straight to Las Vegas.
In principle, I'm all for oversight, the rule of law, and all that good stuff—that's how I was raised and how I operate. But it usually comes with a shout: YOU ARE SUFFOCATING US!!! We can't take it anymore... Seriously, though, the nonsense they pull makes me want to lose my mind—and it makes me wonder how many idiots are actually behind these moves, using OUR money—the salaries we pay them—to fund them?? You buy the software, you buy the internet, the computer, the modem, then you pay a massive fee to the IRS for absolutely NOTHING—a "certificate"?!? What even is that??? Something my bank gives me for FREE?? Or something the Police Department provides for FREE?? It's enough to send anyone's blood pressure through the roof. They couldn't care less what it costs us—God forbid they actually made things easier by offering a few tax credits on the equipment needed for this digital reporting stuff?? That just wouldn't happen. UGH, JUST STOP IT ALREADY!
Poor honest small business owners, accountants, and the rest of the working class. And what's waiting for us next??
Honestly, seeing how useful this chat actually is! You can vent, you can complain—you can even pick a fight with the moderator! And apparently, I can get hit by two at once!!
Look, I’m not saying they aren't right about the warning. I write all this stuff because my head is spinning from all these half-baked solutions—stuff like "pizza for here or to go," "lunch specials," and other nonsense like requiring seconds to be logged on a receipt. They’re overdoing it, as usual; you just have to laugh at the absurdity of it all.
But—I AM complaining, and I mean it, because the moderators teamed up against me when I'm just one guy standing alone. It’s just not fair. If I’m already dealing with one of them (she already gave me a strike!!!), why does the second one jump in and double down on me?!? One acts like the boss, and the other just backs her up. (They basically ganged up on me over the exact same topic!)
So, please, just cancel one of those strikes. I'm equally at fault—I've sent plenty of feedback to the Department of the Treasury, and honestly, I’d love to have a word with the Secretary too about the example they’re setting here. It’s basically: "Well, we can do whatever we want, and you... just deal with it." (I got my little "reward" for the month: $0.78, which is barely enough to cover a night at a homeless shelter!?) It’s peak demagoguery for the 21st century. Long live work—God, please let me be able to work for as long as possible, maybe even until I'm 95!
And just so we're clear: everything I've said stands. I'm not taking back a single word because it's all true, whether you think I'm trolling, being difficult, or just getting lectured by someone new. I'm not backing down, so... Happy New Year, I guess.
P.S. I haven't seen anything like modern digital tax reporting since way back in the 80s (and it definitely existed before then). Back then, registers had chips built-in that recorded EVERYTHING, and an inspector would just use their tool once a year to pull the data, and then take it to the Police Department to see what they needed. But I guess that's too smart for us... We have to do everything via satellite now, right?!?
ruggedcyclist74 said:Jessica Grant56, I appreciate the kind wishes....
I’m right there with you, wishing everyone a smooth ride through 2013.... If we finally decide to start pulling our weight and doing things the right way, maybe the year won't feel quite so much like an uphill battle....
Happy new !!!!!
....
I want to jump in on that "if things start being done properly" part. Personally, I make sure I do everything by the book—no run-ins with the IRS, no red flags hanging over my head, and I pay my fair share to the government. I cover everything tax-free where possible, but then I handle the sales tax on whatever else needs it. That’s just how I learned to operate years ago while living abroad, and I’ve stuck to it here in the States.
That said, I’m well aware there’s a massive amount of tax evasion and corruption out there. I see it happening around me, but I also see this: some people get away with absolutely EVERYTHING!! It’s all about who you know—one connection, a nice dinner, a little influence—and suddenly they're in the clear. And I swear, I can see the fraud from a mile away... it's obvious.
So, my takeaway is this: some people follow the rules perfectly, while others just steal. But because of them, everyone assumes that *everyone* is cheating. Even the accountants are involved—they're basically the ones running the logistics for it. So instead of fixing the root issue, the government under Linić comes up with this incredibly over-complicated fiscal monitoring system. Honestly, it feels like overkill. They could have just relied on simpler tech—like a memory chip in the register that lets federal agencies pull data periodically without allowing anyone to tamper with the records.
Well, good luck with this new setup. If we're lucky, maybe even with such a convoluted way of monitoring things, some stuff will actually get sorted out. Maybe the people stealing will finally be stopped... and maybe retail and accounting won't be viewed as breeding grounds for crime anymore. Who knows... maybe they'll actually pull it off.
To all my fellow accountants out there—both the ladies and the guys—I really hope you manage to clear your desks today. I’m wishing you a stress-free evening so you can head into tomorrow feeling refreshed. Though, if I'm being honest... I'm actually a little nervous about what's coming next. It feels like things are only going to get more complicated from here.
ruggedcyclist74 said:Honestly, isn't it just standard American tradition for the men to be out celebrating and partying while the women stay home handling the cooking, the baking, and the holiday decorating?
You know, whenever someone comes up with such a blatantly gay concept, I can't help but wonder where they acquired such an intimate level of expertise on the subject. 😂😂😂 There is certainly something suspicious going on here. 😂😂
Henry Edwards33, I truly have no idea how you managed to spot that so quickly. 🤣🤣🤣
Man, I’ve learned pretty much everything there is to know through nearly four decades of marriage. When she starts getting things ready—you know, getting the cooking started and getting the house sorted—I just quietly slip away. I try to become almost invisible. I might head over to the library, for instance...
Carol Price4 said:I won't drag this out too long... but when closing down a retail spot, who actually needs to be notified? The space is owned by the corporation, and we’re just keeping it as a warehouse site...
From what I've seen—and believe me, I've learned the hard way—the answer is an absolute YES. A friend of mine closed his small business, an MP, and he ended up getting hounded for ages because he hadn't filed the right paperwork or notified the right people... It's not the exact same situation, obviously, but you can never be too careful when dealing with those guys.
Happy December to everyone, despite all the holiday madness and the chaos—pardon my language—but we really need to address this... The insanity (and I don't just mean the mall crowds) is officially starting!
Raymond Martinez10 said:Let me answer that for you right now—you should also include $0.50 service awards (since he hit that 10-year mark)
Thanks Vlad and the CIA, but honestly, it’s a lose-lose situation no matter how you look at it! They don't leave you alone while you're working, and they don't give you any breathing room when you're sick either. I can't even imagine what happens when we pass away—do they actually provide anything then? I highly doubt it. They probably just make a note of it: "one less problem to deal with..."
