Same story, same deal with State Farm. Four years ago, I was driving a brand new Toyota Camry—only six months old at the time—with full coverage through them. Some guy slams into my passenger side, wrecking the door and the fender. The police show up, and he admits he messed up. But then we get to the adjuster, and that’s when the games begin. First, they made us wait a month for the police report, so I used a connection to pull it together in five days. Then, they tried to claim I was somehow 30% at fault. I told them there was no way I was even 1% responsible, especially since the guy who hit me already admitted it to their faces. They spent a month trying to push back until the owner and I finally marched into the adjuster's office together. We looked him dead in the eye and told him he'd be featured in The Chicago Tribune if he didn't fix this, and we'd see him in court if necessary. In the end, once the car was already repaired, they finally covered everything and even sent a written apology. Absolute crooks. Won't be using them ever again.
Still nothing regarding my account... I’m calling the IRS every single day, and they just claim they haven't even seen my case yet. I managed to pull some strings today, though, so hopefully they'll kick things into gear and I'll have my funds back within a week. It's a nightmare when $233 ends up freezing two whole paychecks. Now they've gone and blocked my child tax credits too; apparently, I have to file some formal request just to stop them from seizing that. What a joke. If they had just sent me one decent warning, I would've settled the debt and moved on from Verizon.
Hey
Here’s my situation...
On December 7th, JPMorgan Chase froze my account because I owed Verizon $243... I picked up some child benefits around the 20th, and I was expecting my paycheck and an insurance payout for some damages to hit on the 21st. That's when I found out everything was locked down. The lady at the teller window really spooked me; she said the balance of $1667 might not even cover all the costs. Since I've never dealt with this before, I'm wondering how much these fees actually run. She told me a notary is just $833?!
If there's enough money, how long does it take them to unfreeze things? The bank didn't do anything, and I've spent days running back and forth between Verizon, the law firm, and the bank...
Who are we actually waiting on here? Would it be faster if I just paid off the debt another way instead of letting them pull it from my checking account—like paying in person? Would that speed things up...
They dragged me along for two weeks just to tell me on the 3rd that everything had been sent to the IRS, but when I called the IRS, they said they hadn't received a thing...
What can I do to get my account unfrozen? This is our only income, and I'm terrified they'll just take it all
