My lawn is dying—any tips? in Real Estate ·
Emily Fowler6 said:Hey guys, I really need some advice here. So, I own a house out in a rural area, and my property extends about 60 feet from the front door before you even hit the main road. I actually put a lot of work into a little ditch area right there—laid down drainage pipes, brought in fresh topsoil, leveled everything out perfectly... I’ve been keeping it looking sharp, too. But lately, it feels like people just can't help themselves. Every other week, someone decides to swing their tractor with a trailer or a massive truck right over my yard. It’s driving me nuts! So, quick question
How much of that dirt strip is actually legally mine? And more importantly, can I put up some small posts or maybe line it with some heavy stones to stop these folks from trampling and destroying the lawn in front of my place?

Okay, so I went ahead and set up some stones about five feet from the road. Right then, my neighbor from across the street comes charging over—he’s clearly not happy about it—and starts screaming his head off. He's claiming the land is half mine and half his, and saying I don't have any right to touch it. Apparently, now he won't have a spot to turn his tractor around for a couple of days, so he's throwing a total fit. Honestly? I just finished my stonework and walked away while he was busy yelling about how he's going to sue me and everything else under the sun. It sounds so ridiculous to me. As far as I know, nobody should be using heavy farm equipment on a public shoulder anyway. Plus, this guy has parked like ten pieces of equipment in front of his own place that sit there all year long, and he only mows his lawn twice a summer, yet he's trying to come after me? I highly doubt it's even legal for people to be spinning around on public property and dragging mud and dirt all over the roadway...
this is gonna be wild!
