Why did Jesus die?

Jesus died to redeem us from that original sin—you know, the one Adam and Eve committed, which, if you listen to some modern preachers, they’re now claiming never even happened. But I suppose it doesn't much matter who the first humans were. The point is, we’re all born with this inherent defect, and what’s the cure? Christianity. That’s why we supposedly need the church. Ha.
And honestly, if God is all-powerful, why didn't He just say, "Alright everyone, you're all forgiven" and call it a day? Instead, He shows up to individuals in secret, and then we're expected to just take the word of prophets or anyone else claiming to have heard from Him. We're basically forced to trust people we've never met. And if Jesus already died, why is there still so much sin in the world? I guess it's because Satan keeps tempting people. But if God is truly omnipotent, why not just wipe out Satan and end the whole saga right now? Well, apparently He wants to wait until the end of time. That seems to be the catch. It can't be over yet, because if He killed him and solved the problem of sin once and for all, we wouldn't need religion anymore. It’s kind of like Batman—he never actually kills the Joker; he just throws him in Arkham, the guy escapes, and everything starts all over again.
