DHCP should probably be enabled—her brother connects via LAN, and everything worked perfectly fine before I did that Windows reinstall. I’m heading over to her place tomorrow to check it out, so I'll let you know what happens.
So, I just finished installing Windows on my girlfriend's laptop yesterday.
Everything worked perfectly fine when she connected to my router—she was online without a hitch. But now, she’s trying to get back home and can't connect to her own router at all. It keeps saying she has a limited connection.
I ran an ipconfig/all and it’s showing a 169.254.x.x IP address with no default gateway listed. I guess I'm wondering if I should try setting a static IP, or maybe it's a firewall issue? Or who knows, maybe it's just some buggy wireless adapter drivers... I'm really not sure.
