Criminal profiling: What makes them tick?

Isn't it obvious when you look at these people? You can practically see the criminality written all over their faces, or am I just falling for the media hype?
The way I see it, criminals come from three main roots:
-revenge
-genetics
-childhood trauma
There is an entire spectrum of antisocial personality types and various disorders, such as psychopathy, sociopathy, pyromania, pedophilia, and so on...
Most people we would label as criminals fall somewhere within those specific groups, which is probably what you're getting at, though I don't quite grasp your exact definition of "criminals"—I assume you aren't referring to general petty crime.
