Banking by Donald Trump & Gotham City in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Nostradamus, could you drop a link to the post where you lay out your system? I’d rather not dig through the entire thread...

Are you certain your model is actually sustainable? So far, every single system has proven to be unsustainable. It's possible a stable monetary system doesn't even exist—perhaps economists intentionally designed this one to run for a few centuries before it collapses under its own weight, breaks everyone's back, and forces us to start all over again.

Pernar, if I’m following you correctly, you’re pushing to abolish the Federal Reserve and hand its powers over to the government, essentially letting the state print money whenever they feel like it? And you want to ban commercial banks from issuing loans that aren't backed by their deposits and capital?

In theory, it sounds fine, but reality would tell a different story. Driven by short-term political wins, the government would likely trigger hyperinflation. As for the second point, while it might be the only sustainable way for banks to operate long-term, interest rates would skyrocket, and the American public wouldn't stand for it.

Is there actually any country out there running a system like the one you're proposing? I'd love to see how that looks in practice.
Standing order causing my account to go negative? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
So, can an automatic payment go through if my account is overdrawn?

Specifically, I'm asking about my Verizon bill and my Chase account.

Thanks for the help! 🙂

If this has already been discussed somewhere, my apologies—I couldn't find anything on it.

Dennis Turner62 said:Customers registered in the United Kingdom are betting against other Betfair customers. If you're registered with Betfair from outside the United Kingdom (say, South Africa), you're betting directly against Betfair rather than other Betfair customers. Someone told me this is called cross matching with Betfair.

http://www.betfair.com/aboutUs/Regulatory.Information/

Basically, I almost always Lay at odds of 2.0 with a $10 stake, but it’s hard for them to accept it as MATCHED. Other odds and stakes usually get accepted quickly.

It's obvious we're betting against other users; during major sporting events, liquidity can dry up, so sometimes only a few dozen dollars will clear at the same odds. Betting a few dozen dollars against Betfair itself should go through without an issue. Just send them an email and ask about those specific rules—there's likely a straightforward explanation for what they actually mean.🙂

If you're referring to that 7-8 second delay on live bets, that's standard. It's probably there to prevent someone from placing a bet at the old odds just seconds after a goal is scored. Non-live bets process much faster.

Dennis Turner62 said:Has anyone tried betting through betfair.com?

I was reading the instructions, and it says that if you live outside the United States, you aren't betting against other people, but against Betfair itself. I'm curious how that actually works. I know that when you bet against other people, the bet gets MATCHED once someone else accepts your odds and stake, but what happens when you're playing against Betfair directly?

Drop a link or explain where you saw that so I can take a look.

I've been using Betfair for ages and I've always been betting against other users; I didn't even realize you could bet against the house.🤷

And yes, I live outside the United States.🙂

I've been scrolling through the last few pages and I don't see a single mention of Betfair.

If you're looking to get serious about betting and actually make money in the long run, Betfair is where you need to be. It can be a bit of a learning curve for beginners to wrap their heads around the mechanics, but once it clicks, it opens up an entirely new dimension of betting.🙂

For those who prefer traditional online sportsbooks, Pinnacle is easily a class above the rest.

P.S. Peter Williams37, of all the people on this forum, I happen to run into you?🤣 Cheers.👍

Based on this page, they should be a solid choice.

Take a look at what’s being said about them, and maybe skim the forums to see what people actually think...

At first glance, I'd say they're reliable, especially since S&P Global gave them an A rating.

Why trash Bwin? Their marketing is easily the best in the business, and from what I can tell, that’s all the average bettor actually cares about...

All jokes aside, I spend a lot of time reading sports betting forums, and I get the impression that over half of bettors in America start out with Bwin, even though people are constantly posting about getting burned there...

Whenever I talk shop with a friend and bring up Pinnacle or Betfair, they act like they've never even heard of them. They'll say, "Oh, once they put a logo on a Real Madrid jersey, then I'll consider them," before heading straight back to Bwin. Of course, they end up losing because they try to stack ten legs on a single parlay, failing to realize they probably wouldn't have won a dime even if they hit it...

The point is: we should just let people learn the hard way. Bwin's marketing machine is simply more powerful than those of us trying to warn people away from them. 🙂

So, was this law just passed? Does that mean online betting gets banned once we join the EU?😲

And why on earth would sports betting be classified as gambling? I’ve always viewed it as an investment. When you place a bet, you’re essentially investing in a quality performance—the hard work, the conditioning, and the tactical setup of a team.

It’s not like FC Barcelona or Chelsea FC win because they're lucky; they pour massive amounts of effort and capital into ensuring they win.

By this logic, will stock market trading or putting money in a savings account be labeled as gambling too? After all, you can't be 100% certain about a stock's movement or whether a bank might fail.

Could this actually be a loophole in the legislation? 🙂

Exactly. This is where you pick a sportsbook, not some random American blog or fan site.

Goksim As requested:
Having spent quite a bit of time navigating the world of online betting, I figured it was time to put together a quick rundown of the top sportsbooks out there. Hopefully, this helps someone make a better choice. 😉

Aside from the 24/7 availability, online sportsbooks offer some solid perks, like welcome bonuses that can match your first deposit 100%. If you put down $10, you’ve got $20 to play with; deposit $30, and you're sitting on $60. As for security, there isn't much to worry about. The major platforms have more users than entire countries used to have back in the old Yugoslavia days, and they invest heavily in multilingual interfaces and top-tier security. Plus, since these sites sponsor major leagues and clubs, you can stream over 500 matches a week—perfect if you want to watch the action and place live bets without ever leaving your couch.

DraftKings DraftKings is a top-tier sportsbook. They’re currently running a 100% match on your first deposit up to $30—so you put in $30 and walk away with $60. It’s one of the most popular platforms out there, featuring a very slick, multilingual interface. Their event selection is massive, covering everything from local US leagues to international matches. Some UEFA Champions League games even have upwards of 400 different prop bets available. One major advantage is their coverage of niche soccer leagues across the US and beyond. Plus, they aren't as quick to lock down bets as physical betting shops; you can often place a wager on a game that a local sportsbook has already frozen. 😉
The live betting interface is quite sleek. They also stream a massive selection of matches—the entire Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, and plenty more. If you want to watch, all you need to do is open an account.
They roll out user bonuses every year, even for birthdays. Naturally, the interface is available in English too.

BetMGM They’re one of the top online sportsbooks out there right now. They’ve got a promotion running for new users: a "$10 free bet." Basically, if you place your first bet up to $10 at BetMGM and it doesn't hit, they'll credit you back. It’s essentially a risk-free bet.
To be fair, their odds are pretty solid. They offer fewer markets than DraftKings, but for the average bettor, it’s more than enough. The Live Nation betting experience is decent, though I feel like there's room for improvement since they don't have quite as much going on in the live markets. That said, they often hold better lines than the other books.

DraftKings. The interface is multilingual, too. Their live betting setup is exceptionally well-organized, allowing you to wager on any match you're following from kickoff to the final whistle. Best of all, there are no restrictions on parlay options; you can combine live bets with upcoming events seamlessly.

FanDuel They aren't offering any sign-up bonuses right now, but this is easily one of the top-tier sportsbooks out there. Any serious bettor should have an account here. The interface is fully localized for American users, and the variety of events is massive. They really lead the pack when it comes to prop bets—you can quickly jump on everything from total yellow cards and corner counts to shots on goal or player props.

Bet365 offers a 100% deposit match up to $100. They have a solid selection and plenty of events available for streaming. Their sign-up bonus is quite attractive—deposit $100 and you’ll see $200 in your account (and yes, it works proportionally if you deposit less). It’s one of the most established bookmakers in the United States.

Gamebookers currently features a 100% first deposit bonus up to $30. The variety is decent, and they rarely slash the odds on favorites, which is a nice touch...

bet-at-home gives a 50% Welcome Bonus!
Bet-at-home is quite popular throughout the States. The interface is user-friendly, and they cover a massive range of sporting events for our market.

Hopefully, this quick rundown of top online sportsbooks helps. If anyone needs a hand navigating online betting, feel free to shoot me a DM. I'm happy to help.

These sites are only "leading" because they advertise everywhere; DraftKings probably has ads on the toilet seats in the Real Madrid locker room xD
As for those bonuses, just ask yourselves why they give them away so freely. It’s because they make a killing, which means their clients are losing a lot...
If you actually want to bet professionally, there are much better options out there (Pinnacle, Betfair, etc.).

I suspect they’ll pull the funds as soon as you register the card, before you even send the money. I'm not sure if it shows up on an ATM statement. Are both your card and your PayPal account set to USD? If the currencies don't match, you might run into trouble over those small cents; you have to be exact down to the penny here.
Best offshore sportsbooks for online betting? in Betting Forum ·
Yeah, I’m not sure what your bank calls it, but on my end, it’s just online banking. You log in, check your transaction history, and see how much was charged—it should be a tiny amount, maybe somewhere between a penny and ten cents. You have to enter that exact amount into PayPal to verify the card is actually yours. Apparently, the amount can fluctuate slightly due to exchange rates, so just wait for the recommendation from the guy who posted before me.

Try transferring something like $25; some betting sites will hit you with a commission.

When you see an option like "pay from current balance" under the payment methods, you should be able to move the funds.

I use PayPal all the time and I've never run into this. Did you transfer the funds to PayPal yet, or is the money still sitting on the card? It’s usually much smoother once the cash is actually in your PayPal account.

Actually, DraftKings takes that premium fee themselves, not the government.

Does anyone actually know what happens to this ridiculous law once we join the European Union? By any logical standard, online betting at foreign bookmakers should be permitted then.

Damn, this law is truly idiotic. Only Americans could come up with something like this.🤣
I've been betting online for about two years now and I'm up roughly 600%. Basically, I'm bringing dollars into the US and I want to spend them here, yet the law forbids it. Meanwhile, they claim to encourage exports, which would also bring dollars into the US. Something doesn't add up, though maybe I'm just missing something...😁

For those of you trading on Betfair, what’s your take on the premium charge? If I understand correctly, if you make more than a 20% profit on your turnover annually, they hit you with a 20% tax? Am I right about that?

My recommendation for an online sportsbook is Pinnacle. They are phenomenal. I've never had a single issue with them, nor have I ever heard anyone else mention one, despite how much I read on various betting forums.
