They haven't taken anything from me yet, but honestly, watching everything they do, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried. I don't really have any significant income, so I guess I'm not sure what they'd even go after. It would just seem like another shady move on their part...

They sent me a garnishment notice, which I contested, and then things just went quiet until I got a court summons for May 6th.

It involves four different accounts. Three of them are probably past the statute of limitations, but this fourth one isn't. The thing is, I wasn't even using their services back then, so I'm pretty confused about why that fourth account even exists...

Plus, I don't have any of my old statements. I usually toss everything out after a year, and now it sounds like that might actually become a bit of a headache...

I went through a few pages before this and figured it was just a statute of limitations issue. The bills were from December 2011, January 2012, and March 2012. Then the seizure notice was dated September 16, 2013, and I signed off saying I received it just a couple of days after that.

Hanžeković & Partners

I guess I'm not even sure if it's actually possible to fight back against these big corporations and greedy sharks...

I'm dealing with a massive judgment and an asset seizure order from AT&T dating all the way back to 2007... yet they still haven't frozen my bank accounts?? Why is that? Is there any chance it's hit the statute of limitations? I've heard somewhere that things expire after five years or something like that...

hmm.. I guess I'm in a similar boat with T-Mobile... Isn't the statute of limitations for telecom services just one year?

At the end of September 2013, I got hit with a collection notice from AT&T
The bills listed are for:
12/2011
01/2012
03/2012
10/2012

I immediately filed a dispute because I think those first three months are past the statute of limitations, and honestly, that last bill doesn't even make sense to me (which is true), since I thought my contract with AT&T ended before then. Plus, I didn't receive any bills—or maybe I just missed them—but I usually toss all my junk mail without looking, though I doubt I would have missed an actual bill...

I haven't kept any of the bills or the contract; the agreement ended, and those old bills were paid long ago, so I don't really keep stuff like that for years...

The collection process was put on hold, maybe around December, but today I got a summons for court...

So now I'm wondering if they can actually charge me for those first three months?

If the contract did happen to cover that last month, could they just charge me for that one and write off the first three?

And if something like that happens, am I stuck paying all the legal fees?

Is there any way to fight paying those fees, especially since I never got the bill on time and they tried to include those expired charges in the collection process?

If I'm not at fault for any of these charges, who covers my costs, especially since I have to travel to a $17 distant location for court? ($33 bus) plus whatever I spent sending in my dispute... I'm unemployed right now and don't have any income (at least not on paper)

I'm just getting so tired of these greedy telecom companies; I feel like rebelling over the $0.33 costs they're causing... Honestly, I'd tell them to send a limo to pick me up, since I don't even have money for the bus 😠

Back again with some legal headaches. I actually posted about this a little while ago. Basically, a friend of mine got hit with a garnishment notice from Coca-Cola about six months ago over some old business invoice he wasn't even responsible for—we're talking an eight-year-old bill. I helped him write up an appeal based on the statute of limitations, and he actually received confirmation from the court that Coca-Cola isn't allowed to touch his assets. He's not entirely sure of the specifics, but he assumed everything was settled... anyway, it's been six months since that appeal was filed. He doesn't have a steady paycheck or anything else in his name except for two cars. He's trying to sell one and transfer the title, but he's run into a huge wall because of this garnishment. It seems like the court hasn't even forwarded his appeal yet, where they were supposed to; so, the appeal is just sitting there at the courthouse... I guess what I'm wondering is, what can he do now? Is he really stuck being unable to sell his car just because the court is moving so slowly? I wonder if there's a faster way to handle this, since the local county court clearly isn't in any rush to deal with it. If Coca-Cola can't touch his property, how come he can't manage his own assets however he wants? Please help ASAP if anyone knows a solution...

HELP!!!

Someone I know just got hit with a garnishment for an old bill from $533 regarding ice cream supplies—it’s for a restaurant they used to run maybe 8 or 9 years ago. If they don't settle this, the collectors are coming for their car, which is pretty much everything they have left. They actually filed an appeal against the whole thing, though I'm not entirely sure about the specifics of the case. Well, about ten days after sending the appeal, they just got a notice saying they need to bring the car down to the police station.
I think I read somewhere that they can still move forward with the seizure while an appeal is being reviewed or whatever. But that’s the part that doesn't make sense to me—by what right can they take the car if the appeal hasn't been officially approved or denied yet? Plus, he wants to just pay the money and be done with it, but there’s nowhere to send it. He didn't get an actual invoice with payment instructions, and while the garnishment lists a few names, there isn't a single contact number for anyone involved. We tried looking up the number for Nestlé online and we've been calling them all day, but they just keep saying someone will call us back. No one will tell us where to send the payment or even explain what this charge is actually for... I guess I'm just wondering, are they actually allowed to show up and take the car via the police???
