Budget PC build around $350? in Desktops ·
Hi there,

I don't want to clutter things up by starting a whole new thread... but what do you all think of this build? Is there a way to get more bang for my buck here, or maybe find some places to cut costs?

Case: MIDI ATX Akyga AKY921BL (no PSU)
Power Supply: Corsair VS series 450W, 80+, USA version
Motherboard: ASRock H81M-HDS
Processor: Intel Pentium G3258
Graphics Card: MSI Radeon R7 260 OC, 1GB GDDR5, VGA, DVI, HDMI
RAM: Kingston 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L Non-ECC CL11 DIMM 1.35V
Hard Drive: WD Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 3 WD10EZEX

Best Buy-->$870

This is my absolute limit for budget. My first idea was $833 using the G3220 processor, but I figured I might be better off going with the G3258 just for the overclocking potential—though, I suppose, would it be smarter to just grab the G3220 now and then pick up a used i3 down the road if this ends up being too weak?
Will this setup actually let me play anything occasionally—say, newer titles on medium settings?

It looks like this motherboard is out of stock at the moment; is there another one that would be worth picking up instead?

Alright then... I suppose the R7250 2 GB GDDR3 should do the trick. Thanks.

This is just the 1GB R7250—I actually had my heart set on the 2GB version, which tends to be quite a bit more expensive.

Thanks. I think I’m going to pull the trigger on that V300 SSD after all—and I might even look into a better graphics card. Instead of the R7240 2GB GDDR3, I'm considering the R7250 2GB GDDR3 if you guys think it's actually worth the extra cash, maybe something like this
The R7250 with GDDR5 would probably push me way past my budget, though.

Hi everyone. I'm putting together a build for a friend. The budget is $900 strictly capped, and they're planning to use an HDTV (about a 32-inch model, I think) as a monitor via HDMI. For the most part, the machine will be used for technical drafting—something like SolidWorks. I was wondering what your thoughts are on this specific setup?
