Wage garnishments and collections
in Law ·
About two years ago, my local City Hall decided to hire a private firm to handle land surveying. Once the work was finished, the city claimed they didn't have the budget to cover the costs, so they passed an ordinance requiring residents to chip in $83 per identified boundary line.
I couldn't bring myself to agree with that, so I refused to pay $167 for a service I never actually requested. Now, I've received a notice regarding a potential garnishment based on what they claim is a valid legal document. I'm planning to file a formal objection and take this to court.
I would truly appreciate your thoughts on how I should proceed or how best to defend myself in court.
