But if we don't exercise that, if we don't put in the actual work, there's no progress. We won't learn or realize anything if we don't push ourselves to engage our own strength, to accept and incorporate what the environment offers us. All those beautiful external stimuli will just echo nothing inside us. It's through repetition, practice, thinking, and feeling that we gradually develop and enrich ourselves. And that stays with us forever (well, unless Mr. Alzheimer or old lady dementia hits us first, then maybe not for long 😁). From there, we can move forward...
External chemical stimulants, whether natural or synthetic, are currently going to create some unusual, unnatural connections in our brains, resulting in equally strange effects. It simply means our organism isn't shaped—genetically or environmentally—to be capable of doing those things on its own.
Biologically speaking, if you let a chimpanzee get drunk, both he and his entire troop would end up in a leopard's jaws pretty quickly. And if cavemen had spent their time chewing on piles of tasty hallucinogenic leaves, I suspect we’d still be living under the rule of some great tribal mother cult today 🤣
So, you have these incredible visions, you feel amazing, you get the impression you're capable of creating grand works of art or science, and you drift through social and existential realities like you're sailing on clouds 🙄 and that lasts only as long as you have that chemistry in your system. After that...
Look at the little fruit after the rain:
It's full of drops, swaying in the breeze.
And it glistens, bathed in the sunlight,
The wonderful splendor of its branches.
But once the sun hides away just a bit,
All that magic vanishes.
She is again, just as she was at first,
An ordinary, somewhat pathetic little tree.
Robert Frost
The human brain isn't some corporate entity waiting to be acquired through a hostile takeover. Honestly, it’s exhausting to watch. It feels like we’ve all collectively surrendered, swallowing this hollow, soulless Western capitalist jargon until it's become our primary way of thinking. Why have we allowed ourselves to adopt the lexicon of a boardroom as if it were our own natural language?

How can you possibly claim to know? Do you honestly believe you have any insight into whether certain herbal compounds actually respect concentration levels or enhance penetration depth in mammoths? How could you possibly know what they were consuming—or if they were even consuming anything at all? And to suggest that their entire devotion to the Mother Cult was driven by these substances? It’s an absurd leap. For all we know, a lightning strike could have been what took down those mammoths, prompting them to abandon one belief system and pivot entirely to the cult of the Thunderer.
