Hey, can anyone help me out? in Desktops ·
Alright, so I'm pulling the trigger on that setup you guys put together for me—thanks for the help there. Quick question though... what's your take on this monitor/TV combo?

It isn't an extreme combo at all. Sure, you might hit a bottleneck in specific scenarios—like certain multiplayer titles—but realistically, this setup will deliver the best gaming performance out of everything listed, especially when it comes to single-player games.

Check out how this little guy performs with similar processors (like an FX 4320, which is basically an FX 4300 pushed to 4GHz, or an FX 4170) running some newer titles paired with a GTX 980, which is nearly twice as powerful:

Dragon Age: Inquisition at 1200p
Dying Light
Shadow of Mordor (FX 4170) - okay, this one isn't actually that CPU intensive.
this one is quite demanding Psychological Observation

And all of that is on a GPU that's roughly twice as strong as the R9 280.

Getting an FX 4300 at this price is a total steal for $208

Here is the build (pushed to the limit, but doable without an expensive cooler, using a budget motherboard and a 500GB HDD):

AMD FX-4300 Box 3.8GHz - 8MB Cache - 95W BOX
Corsair Value Select 8 GB, 1600 MHz, 2x4 GB
ASRock 980 DE3/U3S3
LC-Power PRO-923B - Red Captor
Seagate BarraCuda 500GB 3.5" 7.2k SATA III 32MB
Cosmo Cool LC-CC-95 - CPU cooler
PowerColor R9 280 3GB GDDR5 OC
XFX Pro 450W

$1444with a discount

Think I'm gonna roll with that first one you posted. Just gotta add a little extra context to the situation... but either way, thanks.

hey, I'm looking for some advice on pre-built PCs. My budget is capped at $4300 max.
If you guys could check CNN... I found a couple of options and figured you could tell me what they're missing. Mostly just using this thing for gaming... Call of Duty, Far Cry, GTA... basically all the new stuff. Also curious which one you'd pick if you had my cash.
