Question regarding moderation policies in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Joshua Jones13 said:This explanation was also included in the PM sent along with the card.

Sure, but my previous post explains exactly how and why this misunderstanding happened—why I handled things in the thread instead of through PZK. It was done with the best intentions.

I think it’s purely a misunderstanding. You guys assumed I was breaking the rules out of ignorance or defiance, while I was just confused about how to make myself heard. Given my blunt tone in that post, I honestly expected a quick warning or a deleted comment before getting hit with a strike. But whatever. The important thing is that it's sorted now.

Dennis Jackson38 said:No problem at all. You will absolutely receive answers to your questions, but I must ask that you present them through the proper channels, which is what I was attempting to clarify in my last two messages. I am genuinely pleased that you finally grasp the underlying logic here; please understand that this doesn't mean you lack the right to information—far from it—it simply means we must follow the established protocol. This is a massive community with a vast amount of activity and inquiries, so structure is essential.

I will address your inquiry regarding the strike right here, but moving forward, if you have any concerns regarding your own standing, please direct those appeals to the official PZK thread. You have every right to do so, and no one is attempting to strip you of that privilege. My previous points were quite straightforward on this matter, so let’s not dwell on the misunderstanding further; my core message remains that individual grievances should be reported via the appropriate venue.

The reason you received a strike is that you chose to comment directly on a moderator's warning to debate its content and validity. Under our community guidelines, discussing moderation actions within general discussion threads is strictly prohibited, and violating that rule results in a strike. It is clearly outlined in the rules.

As for the strike regarding the use of caps lock, that was initially issued in error due to some technical glitches with the device I was using to post. Consequently, it was retracted shortly thereafter so that a corrected strike with the accurate point deduction could be applied properly.

That covers everything. I wish you the very best during your time here on the forum.

Fine. Thanks again.

I'll try to stick to the rules so I don't end up with any more strikes, which would save us both the trouble of an appeal. 🙂

Dennis Jackson38 said:This particular post doesn't belong in this section; it really ought to be directed toward the official Grievances thread. You are mistaken if you believe you can simply spin up your own dedicated topic and expect the moderators to drop everything to address the tribulations of young Sean Wilson wandering aimlessly through the forum landscape.

Please, I beg of you, take a moment to review the community guidelines here at the forum—they are quite straightforward, much like the rules over at Reddit. Don't squander our collective time, and certainly don't harbor any illusions that you can command a private forum where every minor ambiguity, whether it pertains to you specifically or not, will be explained to you on demand. No other members of this community operate this way, so I fail to see why you should be considered an exception to the rule.

If you wish to appeal a disciplinary action, you may do so within the specific thread I mentioned at the beginning of my message, assuming you have managed to grasp the posting protocols.

Thank you.

P.S. If the administrators and senior moderators have nothing further to contribute, I would request that this thread be locked immediately.

Thanks for the heads-up. I messed up, and I'm sorry. Shit happens. I'll be smarter next time. (At least, I hope so. I'll try.)

Also, I was just asking for information; I wasn't looking for a lecture on what I did or didn't intend. I didn't come here to provoke anyone, nor do I think I can have my own private grievance thread. This is simply my first time using PZK, and I didn't grasp everything immediately. I don't think that justifies this level of communication from your side, but that's your call.

Since I haven't encountered the level of goodwill and understanding I believe is necessary for successful communication, I have no intention of complaining about the ban or anything else. I see no reason to give someone another chance to use formalities just to talk down to me or tell me what I meant. I'll try to study the rules myself and figure out how they're applied. If I get it right, great. If not, also fine, because then it means I don't belong here anyway.

But there is at least one positive point we agree on: this thread should be locked.

Thanks again for the info, and sorry for the hassle. It wasn't intentional. 🙂

I’m not here to stir the pot; I’m asking questions because you guys are confusing me, and I can't seem to grasp the logic you're referring to. My goal is to fit in—assuming my needs align with your rules—but to do that, I need to understand the regulations and how you interpret the spirit behind them.

On the thread "When kids arrive, sex disappears," Retra first claimed we had to stop posting there because it was off-topic and suggested we move to PM.
I asked if the user could just start their own thread so we could keep the discussion public, since a public debate feels more productive than a private one.
Then she said the moderators had reached an agreement and that we could actually continue right here on this thread after all.

So, we keep going.

Then you hit me with a warning about post length (even though posts were just as long when Retra said we could stay).

I responded to you on that "When kids arrive, sex disappears" thread, mainly because my previous question over at PZK hadn't received a response in over seven days. (I hadn't even checked this thread after that, assuming I'd been ignored, and only saw your reply just now while drafting this.)

If PZK is supposed to be the place for addressing warnings, yet my previous inquiry on PZK went unanswered for over a week (or so I thought), what choice did I have left? I felt I had to address the issue directly on the thread if I wanted to resolve things to everyone's satisfaction.

Immediately after, I get a red card and a 10-point penalty for using CAPS LOCK(!?)—except I didn't use CAPS LOCK anywhere.

An hour later, Joshua Jones13 pulls back that unfair card, only to immediately drop his own red card with a 30-point penalty for "commenting on a moderator's warning." (Which, in my view, is equally unjust given that my prior question on ZPK sat unanswered for over seven days.)

I get that your job isn't easy, but believe me, it's not easy for me either.

This whole thing reminds me of that old joke...

"A guy walks into a dark club for the first time. After an hour of chaos, he finally yells:
'Hey folks, turn on the lights so we can get organized! We can't keep going like this—I've already lost my mind three times in a row!'"

🙂

Hopefully I’m in the right subforum and asking this the right way.

I'm not trying to police the moderation here. I just want to get a better handle on the rules and what's expected of us so I can avoid unnecessary arguments myself.

Specifically, I'm wondering about this...

If I understood correctly, this user got flagged for this post, but I can't quite wrap my head around why. Looking at the content, his post doesn't seem any worse than the one by Dennis Jackson38 that he was responding to. 🤔

I'd appreciate some feedback on this.

Thanks in advance, Sean Wilson
