How to sign up for Medicare
in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
I run my own small business, but I’ve just landed a job at a corporation. I’ll be an employee there—meaning they'll handle all my Medicare & Medicaid Services coverage—while I simultaneously maintain ownership of my own LLC.
A few days ago, I went to deregister myself from my business through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and they told me something confusing: apparently, my new employer has to register me first before the agency can officially process my deregistration from the business. They claim the deregistration depends entirely on that new company's initial filing?
I’m just not following the logic here—how does the registration happen *before* the deregistration? Since the accounting department at the new firm handles the onboarding, can they actually finalize my deregistration from my own business without me being physically present? Does anyone know how this process actually works?
Thanks for the help.
