Thoughts on doctors in Health ·
So, Dr. Trajbar is filling in for Dr. Turalija, right? And for three whole days, nobody’s even picking up the phone. I need this medication urgently. I finally bolt from work today to head over there just so my nurse can send my prescription, and what does she tell me? "Just come by tomorrow." Tomorrow?! Seriously? I’m shaking from the withdrawal, and honestly, I'm also shaking because this nurse can barely manage to click a mouse three times. Is her pay that low? Maybe she should head to the unemployment office and retrain to be a forklift driver. Best of luck to the doctor, though.
Move this if it doesn't belong here.
Reliable office PC recommendations? in Desktops ·
The main thing is I need to be able to pay via PayPal and it has to come with a licensed version of Windows. Everything else is secondary—I just want something cheap that runs faster than what I've got right now.

Right now, I’m running this old piece of junk at 2.8 GHz with 2GB of RAM and a 40GB hard drive. I need an upgrade that actually feels fast, but some things just aren't adding up.
I've been looking at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Desktop-Specs... which features a Celeron at 2.58 GHz. I'm confused—how can the clock speed be lower than my current setup? My current chip is ancient; I bought it used years ago and honestly don't even know what it is. Am I wrong to assume this Dell would be faster despite the lower clock speed?
My typical workflow involves running a POS system, Microsoft Office, Winamp, a browser, and occasionally an image viewer. It slows down, sure, but it gets the job done. I'm running Windows 7.
I figure buying the one mentioned above would give me a nice boost thanks to the extra RAM, but that clock speed thing is still bugging me. Even after poking around on PCPartPicker, it looks like the newer tech should be twice as fast.
Am I missing something here, or should I just pull the trigger?
Issues with my OKI printer in Computer Peripherals ·
Fixed it. Just hit the factory reset on the printer, reinstalled the software, and boom—works like a charm. Honestly, the print quality from my PC looks way better than what I was getting off the thumb drive. No clue why it needed an admin password just to reset everything in the first place. 🙂

The test page prints look great—color palettes are spot on—but my JPGs and PDFs? Total disaster. It makes zero sense. It’s like the printer is overcompensating with magenta during the color mixing process. Blues turn purple, whites look pinkish, and greens come out looking muddy. I grabbed a utility tool from the HP website, so I’m going to give that a shot and see if it fixes things.

So, whenever I try printing in color, everything comes out looking way too red. Weirdly enough, if I just use the copier function on the machine itself, the colors look totally fine.
I tried reinstalling the drivers and ended up with three different printer options in my settings—basically three different languages (PS, PCL, and some other one). If I go with the PostScript option, the red isn't quite as intense, but it still looks off.
I’m guessing this is a computer issue, right? Because if it were a hardware problem with the printer, even the direct copying wouldn't look this bad.
Should I just take it to a repair shop or what?
Wi-Fi vs. Cable Internet: Which is better? in IT Support ·
Here's the transcript of my chat with tech support:

Me:
Hey, you guys activated my high-speed service today, but my laptop won't pick up the signal. My phone finds it just fine. Up until now, my laptop was connecting to the Wi-Fi at home without any issues, and now it sees about 20 different networks nearby—just not mine. The technician claimed it’s a driver issue, but I've already installed the latest version. If it were the drivers, I wouldn't see any networks at all, right? And if it were the router, my phone wouldn't find it either.

Support:
Following up on your report, we ran a signal diagnostic on the modem and didn't find any irregularities.
We adjusted some settings on the router interface that might have been causing the trouble.

Walls and certain electronics (like your TV, cordless phone base, or microwave) can "choke" the Wi-Fi signal and weaken the connection. Without obstructions, a standard USB adapter or laptop should grab a decent signal from about 30 feet away. When using wireless, the antenna strength on your device (laptop or USB adapter) also plays a big role.

Please try testing the connection again and let us know if you're still having trouble.

The laptop is sitting literally three feet from the modem.🙂 Since the laptop is four years old, is there a chance it doesn't support the "/n" standard?
