Could someone please clarify the nuanced distinction between "holding one's ground" and having "tact"?

I am referring to "holding one's ground" in the sense of resilience—for instance, saying "he holds himself together well for his age," or the idea that regardless of life's hardships, "he holds steady," or even failing at a task, such as "he couldn't hold out much longer."

🤷

Then there is the matter of "tact," specifically in the context of being a tactful individual who possesses social grace.

I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on how these concepts diverge or intersect. Thank you. Best regards,😁
