Best long-range network cards?
in Hardware ·
Hey everyone, I’ve got a quick question for those who might know their way around this stuff.
I was browsing eBay and saw these network cards claiming insane power and range. We're talking 6000mW output with an 18db antenna—and I even saw one listed with a 60db antenna, which sounds pretty much impossible to me. They claim a range of several miles in open space and a few hundred feet indoors. Has anyone actually messed with this gear? Is that range even remotely legit? Also, what kind of radiation levels are we looking at with an antenna like that? I could really use something with this kind of punch, but I have zero interest in throwing money down the drain. It's sitting around $200-$83. Thanks.
