jadehound53 said:$1.00 per mile, with a base fee of $0.00,

my drivers would be running non-stop and wouldn't even need dedicated Uber stands.

Would people actually use rideshares more at that price point?

That rate isn't even that bad. Honestly, I really like the idea of a base fee of $0.00😲

As for those designated pickup spots—they're completely irrelevant. Why would I run all the way to a specific stand? I just pull out my phone, call an Uber, and say, "Hey, I'm here, come pick me up."😉

Actually, I have to admit, the thought of getting rid of those formal taxi stands is something I pretty much love🙂. They’re basically just prime parking spots anyway, and if I'm being honest🙂—I only use a car on special occasions, like when I don't want to deal with a police officer pulling me over... you know, after having two beers or maybe a couple of cocktails...😉
(By the way, a friend of mine ended up losing her license because of that...)

But seriously, I think a lot more people would rely on rideshare services—like seniors heading home from work and stuff like that. It would be great!

UBER SERVICE RATES

Base Fare $8.25
Per Mile $2.25
Waiting Time per Hour $27
Luggage per Piece $1.75

Night rates apply from 10 PM to 5 AM, plus all day Sunday and on holidays from 5 AM to 10 PM; a 20% surcharge is added to the total meter amount.

One dollar equals $2.25

Why don't you just tell us what your prices would look like based on everything you've said? If you were actually running the business and had your own drivers, what would those specific numbers be?🙄 ?
Honestly, I'm not even sure they would end up being much lower... but fine, I'm genuinely curious to see what you'd come up with.🙄

The "Singer" in Miami.
Just look at this sign at the entrance that's been sitting there for two months now.

I just don't understand what the consumer protection agency is doing.
What kind of broken software is this? And which developers are letting it stay like this for months on end?

Seriously, what consumer protection agency are you talking about? Our local one? HA HA...

Here is my own experience.
LESNINA - WASHINGTON, D.C.
I ordered a bed—from IKEA via Lesnina, by the way, this was a long time ago. Back in December 2022... it STILL hasn't arrived.
I can't even remember which specific model I ordered😢 ,
but anyway, I called our precious consumer protection agency.
After being bounced around through a dozen different numbers and people, I finally got through to some lawyer (or so he claimed). He actually had the nerve to ask me, "Ma'am, did you agree on specific terms?" And I told him, "No, the invoice clearly lists the delivery date and the price," unbelievable.😢 ,
And then he tells me—roughly like this—"Well, that doesn't really matter because you couldn't have agreed to that anyway, since you know... it's just not how we do things here, blah blah..." essentially saying those rules don't apply to stuff like this.
The point of this whole story is that you can only sue for penalties and nothing more. You can take them to court, but given how our legal system works... it wouldn't even be worth it.
So, I completely get where you're coming from, but what can we actually do?🙄
