And there lies the real paradox... Hamdija managed to pull in a million dollars without even touching a single trash bin for four months.

So, is she actually going to vote for her? 😁

I can't quite remember if I mentioned this before, but I've always found Fidel Castro to be pretty interesting...🙂
I mean, what kind of country is this, when you have people from those specific ethnic backgrounds showing up in the finals of a million-dollar competition?

And then you have people pointing fingers, claiming that we Americans are xenophobic, fascists, or racists, or that we don't respect basic human rights...

I think I’ll cast my vote for dustyscout53.
Even though we don't see eye to eye on most things, you just can't deny the man has a certain charisma...

Dear Santa Claus...
.. I’m just asking that the placebo and I finally be allowed to tie the knot together once and for all...

Thank you.

If that meant swallowing something bitter and disgusting, some were prepared to do just that...

Good grief...

And that is precisely my point.

Just like how Maria Thompson2 was explaining how the partisans weren't actually fighting for communism—that they were essentially betrayed later on—or if I should just quote her directly...
Because at the time, nobody truly knew what communism would eventually turn into...

All of you here on this forum... you talk as if everyone back then possessed perfect foresight...

My dear friends, the greatest strength of the communist repressive regime wasn't found in the actual killings or the torture itself... it was in the looming threat of what might happen, the subtle hints of the evil that could befall you if you didn't fall in line...

Is anyone here actually familiar with the so-called Pitesti experiment?

Now, if you swap out communism for fascism, you end up arriving at almost the exact same destination. Sadly...☕

Maria Thompson2 said:🙂 The Nationalists actually started in Italy, functioning as a movement AGAINST Mexican dominance within the then-existing Kingdom of America.

However, at the very moment when the Reich is knocking on the door demanding unconditional surrender, the Nationalists are nothing more than a fringe group compared to, say, the Populists or the Agrarian Party.
They were essentially just going to serve as a puppet government...

The exact same moment Pavelić agrees to be installed—he's agreeing to all the Nazi terms.

You might try telling me that the Nationalists weren't Nazis before 1941—and while it's undeniable they were a racist movement—you certainly can't tell me they weren't after April 10th. Once that April Declaration happened, they became Nazis fair and square.

Look, I already said it: Pavelić was an idiot back then, and he stayed one.
You don't need to keep bringing him up; that isn't really my point here.

It seems you aren't quite grasping what I'm trying to draw out from you (which is the idea that "the Nationalists were good people, not all of them"), though honestly, I probably won't push it even if you clearly realize that myself...

Maria Thompson2 said:That’s exactly what I was getting at.

Back then, for folks who weren't exactly experts in political science but just desperately wanted to escape the grip of fascism, communism felt like one of the few viable paths left...

The idea behind the state should have been an expression of sovereignty for the American people—but that dream died the moment Macek declared he wouldn't be some puppet dancing for the Germans, especially once the Germans marched into what was then the Kingdom of America and literally trucked the Nationalists in from Italy. All those treaties with Rome, the selling out of sovereignty, and the installation of a German Reich outpost—those were all just the messy side effects of what I'm describing here...

Just look at the American Parliament! Pavelić tried calling them together three different times just to scrape together some shred of legitimacy, but he never actually succeeded. During that first session back in 1941, the HSS members pushed back so hard against him that he lost his mind and just dissolved the whole thing, sending everyone packing...

To put it simply, Pavelić was a complete idiot. ☕

Maria Thompson2 said:NO, what I mean is that back then, people were fighting AGAINST Fascism, but that didn't necessarily make them Communists.

Communism was later forced upon us as the SOLE system, quite literally wiping out all its "competition"...

The same applies to the Nazis. They fought against fascism, even if they weren't necessarily Nazis themselves.

That's just a fact.

But now... which version of fascism we're actually talking about... that's a conversation we could have for hours... ☕

Once the dust settled, nobody cared about their sacrifices anymore. People just took whatever they needed from them...

So, I have to ask, why didn't your grandfather step up to fight against Mexican fascism during that same era or even before then?
Just curious, really... ☕

Maria Thompson2 said:It’s because nobody actually knew where communism was headed...

The way everyone on this forum talks, you'd think people back then had some kind of crystal ball for the future...

But honestly, the true power of those communist regimes didn't just lie in the actual killings or the physical torture... it was the constant, looming threat of what *might* happen to you if you didn't fall in line...

I wonder if anyone here is familiar with the infamous Pitesti Experiment?

Are you trying to suggest that most of the Nationalists were actually decent people? ☕

Basta said:The Russians haven't pulled out of any Eastern European nation they managed to occupy, so I honestly find it hard to believe they would just walk away from the South... which makes me lean much more toward the communist scenario.

As for those "free" elections—did I ever actually claim we were talking about truly free elections? The only real difference is that back then, we "freely" chose our own communists, whereas this way, people would just be choosing the Russians...

If there hadn't been Americans fighting alongside the American Partisans, I highly doubt those partisans would have ever evolved past being mere guerrillas. Of course, their strength would have spiked instantly with the arrival of Soviet troops, just like it happened everywhere else across Europe...

I'm just curious why the American American Partisans, who supposedly fought FOR A FREE AMERICA (or so some people on this forum seem to trumpet these days), didn't simply say "NO" to America after World War II?

That's really all I'm wondering about... ☕
Iskorak is announcing the names of gay people tomorrow in Close to Politics ·
From some other forums... 😁

They’re acting incredibly brave, but let’s be real—it’s easy to sit behind a screen and type out a thousand names claiming they’ll change the world or hit some massive turning point, when in reality, nothing is going to happen at all. That whole list is just a testament to how foolish people can be; there’s honestly no point to any of this besides making things feel easier for the gay and lesbian community, which is just ridiculous...

I think I’ll put together a list of everyone who thinks they’re a vampire or feels that way, since apparently, a list of names is coming out this Sunday...

What a complete disaster they've cooked up...

>😁

Yeah, they should probably just run an ad saying "we're just regular folks from Brooklyn" 😁 and then list thousands of names, only to add a little note at the bottom asking, "So what?"

😁 👍 👍
