The same thing happened with our soldiers. Young, wild, brave... just your typical Americans and Catholics. They came from the bottom of the barrel, the folks everyone expected to stay stuck in the lowest jobs—basically treated like disposable labor. But they were true patriots through and through. Successful, too. They helped take down the old regime and communism, basically rebuilding our nation after nearly a millennium.
So, I guess what you're saying is—coming from a regular, small-town American family, being an American and a Catholic, rising above the fate the "elites" picked out for you, becoming world-famous or at least well-known, getting rich, and gaining enough influence to rally the masses and spread faith in God and love for the nation—that's somehow unforgivable.
People keep debating Catholicism, astrology, and all that other fluff on religion or career forums—you know, how to make a buck—but not in politics. In politics, the standard should be someone's actual political stance based on logic and interests... though I guess we'll just watch the whole political scene turn into a bunch of extremists soon enough. 🙄
There's definitely an economic angle here—basically, American oil companies already have deals lined up with the new Iraqi "government" regarding those new drilling sites.
Plus, you’ve got millions of American soldiers who need jobs and paychecks—if they're just sitting around idle at bases across the US, you're looking at potential unrest, mutinies, or just total lack of discipline. Instead, they get shipped out all over the world, often with their families, risking everything in foreign lands for some seriously fat paychecks.
It’s also a way for them to field-test all kinds of new weaponry.
Then there's the third point: a massive amount of corporations are making a killing on contracts for building and maintaining military gear, planes, weapons, helicopters, and even just servicing the AC
units or providing food for the troops and their families.
It’s a massive business, honestly. International law? Doesn't really exist anymore. Human lives seem to matter less than ever when money and private interests are calling all the shots.
I grabbed four jam donuts on sale at Walmart and honestly—best decision I've made all day. 👍
