I've got these Samsung 256MB modules on my Soltek FRN2-RL, but I can't get them to stick in DC—and SPD is just as useless. It runs, but then everything just crashes. Maybe it's a BIOS issue? One works fine, while the other is a total disaster. But hey, I can push it to 242 MHz on SD. It actually stays completely stable at 222 (or 225) using 9-4-4-3 timings... which puts us around 3300/1150. It's solid enough, though if I tried this on another rig, it would be a dream—if the price wasn't such a killer. 🙄
Are you actually sure that's a desktop Barton? Their multiplier maxes out at 12.5—anything higher requires a mod. It can't go past 12.5x because the bridge is cut... it's not even connected, really! How are you pulling that off? Does anyone else have one of these Barton chips?

Don't go flashing other BIOS versions... I'm sticking with the latest 1.7L just because of one specific feature I actually need—that one particular Stand by version...
Only 1.4L and 1.5L actually worked well for overclocking... all these newer versions are a total disaster because the PC won't even boot if you mess with half the multiplier settings!!! If you've got decent memory, you can push it up to 230 FSB—even hit 242, which is my personal max! On the FRN2-RL... but only if the processor is unlocked. By the way, how did you manage to get the multiplier above 12.5x!? Which Barton are we talking about here!?
...my desktop Pentium 4...running at 1.6V, clocked at 2200 MHz... it's one of those old green ones...from the early batches 😁 can hit 2.4 on 1.8V—won't push it any further than that since the heat starts getting out of hand... runs fine...seems pretty stable through all the tests

So why are you still running that DDR2700 memory? Well, if you're actually hitting those speeds with a 2.5... damn, props to you. Or am I totally off base!?
just look at the core...that peak temperature right there... you're pushing it a bit too far....it’s probably just a bad seating job with the heatsink or maybe it's just struggling to keep up...if it's some cheap junk, swap it out now—summer's coming and you don't want this thing hitting 90 degrees when things heat up.
also...your CPU acts like a 3000+ even on stock settings, but you'd be better off bumping it up a notch...maybe try 1.675-1.7
