Starting a small business

Need some advice here, please.
I just filed all my paperwork to start my own small business about a week ago. It's just me, a solo operation—I'm going to be doing wedding photography, events, you know the drill... nothing too crazy. But now I'm staring at a mountain of questions:
1. What kind of monthly overhead am I looking at? (I'm doing the simplified tax thing, so no sales tax mess yet)
2. Do I actually need to hire an accountant, or is there some free software out there that can handle the books for me?
3. MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! Are there any little hacks or tips to make these first few months easier? Since I'm basically a total newbie when it comes to the whole entrepreneurship grind, what should I be watching out for?
