Starting a small business

So I just launched my own little service business about three weeks ago... it's just me, a solo operation. The IRS told me I need to keep a ledger of all my income and expenses. I can handle the bookkeeping myself since I used to manage the books for a local grocery store, but I’m totally lost on how to actually pay myself... what forms do I need to file, and do I have to drop them off at the IRS or Social Security or something?
