Hey everyone,
I’ve just been diagnosed with otosclerosis. It might be an early stage, so I’m still on the fence about whether I should go through with surgery. Part of me is just holding out hope that things might improve on their own, which leads me to wonder if anyone here has actually tried this:

I'm dealing with some real issues regarding my triglycerides; they’ve been swinging wildly between 3.5 and 18 according to my latest labs. Honestly, I don't feel a thing—no fatigue, no drowsiness, no actual physical symptoms at all. It's almost like those high numbers don't even exist to my body. Is anyone else out there dealing with similar fluctuations? How much attention should I actually be paying to this, and what does the ideal diet look like? I'm looking for the simplest, most efficient way to get these numbers down.
restlessdriver said:It’s been well-documented that fatty foods aren't actually what drive up your cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The real culprits are excessive carbohydrate intake and those highly refined oils, which essentially prevent the body from effectively utilizing stored fats. You mentioned cutting out a significant amount of fat, but if you haven't watched it, you've probably just inadvertently swapped them for an even higher load of carbs.😵
Honestly, bacon is a much better choice than oil.😁
Generally speaking, bread and those other heavy starch products do much more damage to your cholesterol and triglyceride levels than consuming fats does.
I used to have cholesterol and triglycerides sitting around 5, which was pretty rough. Once I actually committed to changing my diet, things took a turn for the better—my cholesterol dropped to 4.2 and my triglycerides are down to 1.7.
I’ve been drinking quite a bit of dried nettle tea lately—just one more thing on the list of potential remedies.
I’ve been sipping on nettle root tea to deal with some prostate issues, and I have been incredibly disciplined about my diet—watching what I eat like a hawk, picking up fresh fruit whenever I can, staying far away from alcohol, and I don't smoke. Honestly, there was one celebration where I let my guard down just a little bit, but surely those three days of indulgence couldn't possibly be responsible for such a devastating result. I don't know; people always warn you that medication will wreck your liver, but at this point, it still feels like a viable option.
Three months ago, my cholesterol was sitting at 7.5 and triglycerides were at 5.1. Thinking I could handle it, I implemented a semi-strict diet—cutting out canned goods, bacon, and anything with thick layers of fat. Well, yesterday’s labs came back, and they're nothing short of a disaster. My cholesterol is down to 6.5, sure, but my triglycerides have skyrocketed to over 16. I'm at a loss here; what's the next move?
Could someone please help me out here? I’m looking at a lab order and I’m a bit lost on what all these tests actually entail: K-KKS, S-Creatinine, S-Urea, S-glucose, S-GGT, and S-PSA. I’ve already gone ahead and had the PSA checked, and thankfully, those results came back normal.
I’m not entirely sure if this is the right corner of the internet to ask this, but here goes: I’ve got a Dell Inspiron that’s about eight years old now. It’s still kicking, though it’s survived a few rounds of repairs along the way. Lately, the fan has been sounding like a jet engine taking off, which is pretty ridiculous considering I mostly just browse news sites—hardly any video streaming involved, if that even matters. Is it actually necessary to crack the case open and blow out the dust, and more importantly, is that something a guy like me can handle without breaking everything?
I know this sounds pretty amateurish, but... could someone please explain how I can lock a specific folder (or just an entire USB drive)
I’m still technically employed, though my notice period runs until January 10th, 2013, at which point I’ll be officially out of a job. Before that happens, I want to start laying the groundwork for my own construction business. (in San Diego) I’d like to get moving on this immediately, so I have a few questions:
1. Is it legally permissible to open a sole proprietorship or register an additional business activity while I'm still under contract? My current employer doesn't have any issues with it, but I want to be sure.
2. What kind of paperwork am I looking at, what are the total startup costs for a small contracting firm, and where should I take my very first step?
3. Would it be smarter to just pick up some freelance gigs or independent contractor work until my termination date becomes official, assuming that's legally sound?
I’m currently living and working in San Diego. I’ve already had to see a psychiatrist twice, and I’m currently juggling two different prescriptions just to stay level. To make matters worse, my wife is in the late stages of pregnancy, and her OB-GYN has strictly ordered that I take immediate medical leave. However, my current doctor—who I’ll name at a more appropriate time—refuses to grant me even a single day of sick leave. I desperately need to switch to a physician who actually possesses a shred of empathy and will authorize two or three weeks off. As it stands, my current doctor seems more interested in funneling my insurance quotas toward some relative of his than helping me prevent a total family catastrophe. Does anyone in the San Diego area have a recommendation? I’m willing to pay out of pocket if necessary if that’s the only way to get this sorted... private recommendations via DM are also welcome.
