A little tribute to the people who were here first.👍

Just take a second to really think about the kind of life you could build for yourself. Can you even wrap your head around what that level of success would actually mean for you? Honestly, look at it this way: the harder the climb, the better the view from the top. Per Aspera Ad Astra.
You know what, guys? You all talk a big game about being "rebels," but just like those sheltered kids who think they're tough, you don't have the slightest clue how to actually break out of the cages you've built for yourselves.
A few years back, I was spiraling through the exact same thoughts you’re having right now. I obsessed over finding a way out, worked at it, and eventually, I found my answer. Peace of mind didn't require a struggle; it just arrived. Now, I’m just following the path that makes sense to me—a path that feels completely natural, deeply ingrained, and one where I don't have a single shred of doubt.
Anyway, thanks for nothing. Bye.
mistyscout2 said:That’s perfect, I was actually just thinking about bringing him up, but it looks like you beat me to it. Before Lewis Mumford, though, there’s someone who talks about very similar themes—and if you ask most of my colleagues (myself included), he’s actually even better: Oswald Spengler. Now, it’s highly likely that Mumford "borrowed" quite a bit from Spengler, but that doesn't really matter; it’s still a great point to make. Spengler’s magnum opus is "The Decline of the West," which comes in two volumes, so definitely check that out if you're interested... Also, for this specific discussion, his little book "Man and Technology" is worth a look. I picked up a copy recently for $6.75 bucks, and honestly, nothing beats the feel of good old-fashioned paper, despite how much everyone obsesses over PDFs these days, haha. But anyway, getting back to the topic, you guys are making some really great posts here... If I stumble upon another solid reference or a good passage from a book, I’ll feel comfortable enough to share it with the group. It’s not that I don’t have my own thoughts on the matter, it’s just that there are so many deep, insightful, and already established analyses out there that I don't see much point in trying to reinvent the wheel...
I've been following this thread closely, and honestly, I've been waiting two whole days for you to post something. Come on, don't leave me hanging here—give us a little something to chew on... 🙂
Yeah. Honestly, I don't think anyone is ever going to make a movie as massive as "Dances with Wolves" again. For me, it’s been the absolute pinnacle of filmmaking for the longest time. It’s one of those rare experiences where you finish watching it and you realize you aren't quite the same person you were before the credits rolled. If I had to pick a runner-up, I'd probably go with "Instinct".
As far as books go, if we're talking about the greatest masterpiece in history (at least in my book), it’s obviously the Bible. But, I also feel like I have a moral obligation to recommend "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn.
