Anyone selling Microsoft Office on a disc? Doesn't need to be official, just something cheap for home use. I'd prefer Microsoft Office Professional 2013., but apparently you can only download that directly from the official site now, so I'm stuck with the 2010 version since that's the last one available on CD.

The links I find online either don't work, throw errors, or if they actually do run, they try to bundle weight loss ads and junk search tools I don't want... plus, I usually end up catching a virus. And the installation takes forever.

So, I'm looking for a decent deal on a physical CD.

You probably have some old LCD sitting around the house that isn't even LED, let alone IPS—which is ancient history at this point. If plasma were actually any good, I’m sure Panasonic wouldn't have pulled the plug on it. The only real perk of a plasma is that you can basically turn your living room into a radiator and save a few bucks on the heating bill.

With plasma, there's no way to push the resolution any further. It's a dead end. Toss it in the junk pile...

Forget plasma; that tech is ancient history and just wastes a ton of electricity as heat.

Just make sure you get an LCD LED with IPS technology—that way, the picture stays consistent even if you're watching from a side angle, so colors don't wash out or dim...
There are even pricier models with 3D capabilities.
Try to find one with an ATSC tuner that handles older MPEG4 and even legacy MPEG2 standards, though honestly, that'll be a tough hunt since most things only support MPEG4 now. From what I've seen, you usually have to buy an ATSC set-top box separately to get that kind of compatibility.

No way, that Samsung drive just uses a standard red laser—I already have one of those in my desktop back in New York City. I was specifically hunting for a Blu-ray player, so I finally pulled the trigger on an LG BH16NS40 from a local repair shop. I actually asked them if I could run an ancient Compact disc from a retired mid-90s PC—running Windows 95—on a modern rig headed for the coast. Anyway, the Blu-ray is on its way, and I’ll be back in NYC in ten days. Now I just need to sort out Windows 8 and Microsoft Office... My flash drive is pretty old, though, and I'm not sure if Windows 8 will even fit. What's the minimum GB requirement for Windows 8?

I just put together what I had on hand. Now I’m just sitting here waiting for them to invent some new port that requires -5V, so I can blow more money on a new power supply. I’d bet anything that in a few years they'll change the connector shape or dream up some new voltage requirements... then it's back to the store to start all over again.

Does anyone even make new 24-pin power supplies with that white wire on pin 20 anymore? Something like the 600W unit I'm currently running...

I haven't hooked up the power supply yet. The case is still wrapped in plastic, and honestly, I don't feel like unwrapping it if I end up having to send it back. And it isn't the 8-pin, it’s the 20-pin (-5V).

Come on, guys... nobody seems to have this in stock. I checked with Heinz and they said they’re waiting ten days for more, but I'm in a massive rush. Is there any way I could just force an old Compact disc from one of my ancient PCs (running Windows 95) into the drive just to get the new Windows installed on this new machine? Would that even work?

Picked up a 600W power supply on eBay a couple days ago, only to realize there’s no wire on pin 8. I checked my new motherboard and saw the trace for pin 8 actually goes somewhere... it's not a dead end. Why on earth do manufacturers do this?

I tried returning it to the store to swap it out, but since all the other models are still factory-sealed, they won't let me open them. How am I supposed to know which one actually has pin 8 on the main 24-pin connector without opening the box?

I’ve got this old keyboard sitting around, but it uses one of those big round plugs. Does anyone know if there's an adapter to convert it to a modern USB connector? Or should I just bite the bullet, snip the cable, and solder on a new plug... assuming it'll even work with current motherboards?

And please, don't give me the "just buy a new keyboard" speech $17 because I'm determined to save this one.
