Laptop Wi-Fi issues

Hey, I'm having some trouble connecting to my Wi-Fi... It finds the network, I type in the password, and then nothing happens. My laptop shows that connection icon with the little error symbol (the upside-down triangle). I'm not sure if I need to tweak some settings on the laptop, if my antivirus is blocking it (I have AWG installed), or maybe it's an issue with my Apple dongle that I plug in when I need to get online. Proximity shouldn't be the issue since the router is just one floor up, pretty much right above the laptop.
