Yeah, it's an ASUS Prime M5A78
In my case, I'm getting 16 beeps, which is just great.
Does anyone here have a solid guide or a decent parts list for putting a PC together?
Alright, here’s the situation... I fired up my rig and got hit with 16 consecutive beeps. My GPU is an ASUS Prime M5A78, and the screen is showing me dual BIOS—which doesn't mean much since I'm definitely not some hardware guru. I went ahead and tested the power supply, and honestly, everything seems fine there.
One guy I talked to tried telling me there's no way to plug a modern graphics card into this motherboard because the connectors are "too new" or something. Is that actually a thing? If I need to dig up more specific specs to figure this out, just let me know and I'll go hunting for them.
So, I’ve got this old FTX 460 graphics card—definitely seen better days. A few months back, when I actually took the time to test things out, the power supply seemed totally fine, but now? Now we're in trouble. Every time I boot up, the screen gets flooded with these pink pixels right around the Windows 10 logo, and then—poof—the monitor just loses the connection entirely. It’s like the PC and the screen stop speaking the same language. My "fix" used to be just resetting the computer, which worked every single time... until now. Now, nothing. I turn it on, and the monitor doesn't even show a "No Signal" message; it's just dead silence. I even tried swapping out the monitor, but no luck there either. To make matters worse, it randomly shut itself down earlier today, and when I finally managed to get it back up after it had been idling, it flashed some weird resolutions at me before just giving up the ghost again.
Ps. When I try to boot, the PC makes this weird noise—not like a literal pig squeal, obviously, but more like a series of four beeps followed by two quick ones about two seconds later.
I mean, yeah... I probably should just grab a newer one, but honestly, I’m a little hesitant to drop money on a new GPU when my power supply is such a question mark right now. I really don't want to end up throwing cash down the drain if the PSU can't handle the load.
My drivers are already up to date, too. The main issue was that my monitor kept going to sleep right in the middle of a game, which is just great.
Thanks for the help.
It was acting a little weird at first—lots of questions about whether it would even kick on—but then things leveled out. Plus, that little indicator light by the power button kept blinking and then just completely died on me.
Power supply is an EVGA SuperNOVA
GPU is an AMD Radeon HD 5870
Hey there.
I’ve run into a bit of a weird one here, so if anyone has a clue what might be going on, I’d really appreciate the help. Basically, I fired up my PC this morning and... nothing. No video signal on the monitor at all. I tried swapping out the monitor—still nothing. Swapped the cable too? Same story. My first thought was, "Well, great, everything just died." So, I shut the whole thing down and didn't touch it the rest of the day. Fast forward to tonight, I power it back up and it actually boots right up. I went straight to checking the voltages to see if things look okay, so if anyone could take a look and let me know if these readings seem alright—or if anyone has any theories on why it refused to wake up this morning—that would be awesome.
