Look, I'm a conservative because I'm a patriot.

So if that's the rule, then I guess I'm a conservative too since I love this country... In my last post, I was thinking that patriotism shouldn't care about left or right politics. But apparently, the "conservatives" around here think you can only call yourself a patriot if you hold right-wing views.

And no, no—actually, the unpatriotic types here assume all patriots are conservatives, which by their own twisted logic would mean they should be liberals, which is just plain stupid.

You could see this clearly in that thread about increasing maternity benefits—which is a purely social issue—where those so-called "liberals," who are really just a bunch of old-school losers, jumped all over it just because the Republican Party suggested it.

Man, this whole idea of splitting people into "patriots" and "everyone else" is just plain stupid, if you ask me... I mean, look, to me, a true patriot is someone who actually stepped up and put their life on the line for this country back in '91. But get this—under today's twisted standards, half those guys wouldn't even be called patriots; they'd be labeled as communists or Masons or some other nonsense. Meanwhile, you've got people who haven't seen a single day of combat and spend their lives working some dead-end desk job, yet they act like huge patriots just because they blast Thompson or shout "we're all M. Norac!"

but splitting things left versus right? Now that makes sense.

So yeah, I'm on the right because I'm a patriot.

And yeah, sometimes I bite back—I lose my cool and fire an insult right back at them (it’s rare, but it happens). But really, what actually bugs me isn't even the people themselves, like Phil or Second or I. L-a

And don't even get me started on the extremists, both left and right... though if I'm being real, the leftists annoy me more. You'd think they'd be way more open-minded than the righties, right?

Man, give me a break! Explain that whole "left vs right" thing to me—are we talking about this forum or the whole damn country?

Look, we're talking about the divide between patriots and everyone else here. So those so-called "leftists" aren't actually more open-minded, because let's face it—they aren't even truly on the left.
