I think you mean the songs they wrote thirty years ago.

The real issue is that they’re going to be promoting their new material at the concert, which is a total nightmare in its own right.
I can’t recall a single decent song produced by The Rolling Stones in, say, the last two decades. I honestly don't see why people even bother showing up to their concerts anymore.

Back when I was just a broke college student, I applied for an American Express card and listed my annual income at $18,000. They turned me down, claiming I needed to make at least $23k a year.

Later on, they actually reached out to me to try and sign me up, but I wasn't interested. Honestly, I don't see myself ever getting one. 🙂

Since Vistula and Mastercard are accepted practically everywhere, I’ve truly never felt the need to carry an American Express.

Diners Club, are you guys still around?

I'm pretty sure Diners Club doesn't exist here in North America; maybe they have a presence in Europe.
If you were to pursue a PhD in a place like Canada, you’d be looking at a maximum gross annual stipend of about $20,000, which works out to roughly $2728 per month before taxes.
Of course, you have to factor in tuition, which the government subsidizes here, but even then, you're still looking at around $333 monthly, plus rent for a dorm that isn't subsidized, which runs about $1000, and so on.
In the US, you might pull in a bit more cash, but since the cost of living is significantly higher, you end up right back where you started.

If your primary driver is money, you're actually better off staying in America than heading north. In my experience, scientific funding in America is more competitive when you weigh it against the actual cost of living compared to North America. I haven't met anyone here in a post-grad position who struggles to pay rent; honestly, I haven't even heard of anyone attempting to take out a loan. 🙂

I mean, where does it end? With degrees like those, you could land a faculty position anywhere in the world.
