Lost in space in Psychology ·
I was actually in Italy when I hopped off the ship. Honestly, I had no clue where I was at first, but I managed to figure it out. You just ask a few questions, think things through, and you're good to go. To get back home, I switched trains once and caught three different buses. Luckily, I ran into some people who spoke enough English to help me out.
OCD: General Discussion Thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Growing up, I had this whole nightly ritual I had to go through before I could sleep.
1. Checking if the doors were locked a few times.
2. Tapping the doorknob repeatedly to keep any bad vibes from getting in.
3. Peeking under the bed and inside the closet just to be sure.
4. Once the lights went out, I’d flip them back on after a few seconds just to run a quick, condensed version of all those checks again.

Then I'd pull the covers over my head and say a specific number of prayers—always looking around nervously to see if anyone was there.
It was mostly just childhood fear, and honestly, it completely vanished as I got older. These days, I still find myself double or triple-checking that the house is locked before I head out, or doing the same thing with my car. Usually, when I feel that urge to check something and I know it's irrational, I just calm myself down by telling myself that life happens. If someone breaks in or a car gets stolen... well, things can be fixed.🙂 It's a bit tougher when that obsessive checking involves the safety of someone close to you, because you can't just tell yourself "let it burn." In those moments, you have no choice but to check every single thing that could go wrong while you're away.
By the way, I love counting money—just counting and counting. That's actually tied to something else entirely: greed.

How to master lucid dreaming? in Psychology ·
I often have this thing happen where I wake up suddenly and the images from my dream just hang there in front of my eyes for a few seconds. It’s actually spooked me a few times—it’s not exactly a great feeling to turn on the light and see some hairy stranger staring at you from across the room. I'm not sure if it's linked to lucid dreaming or something, but it happens. Sometimes being in that half-asleep state is actually pretty nice; I'll drift back into dreams about things I was just thinking about while awake, though I never have any control over what happens next. Also, I dream about flying all the time. One weird thing is that out of dozens of times I've done it, I always take off from the exact same spot. And in the dream, I'm always paranoid that someone is going to spot me, because obviously, we aren't supposed to be doing that! What am I even doing up there?
