Samuel Davis16 said:He just repeats everything I already know and acts like he's proving it, as if I don't realize it myself😁

But that doesn't cut it for me. Don't state the obvious. Give me something actual from those books you're always reading that I haven't heard before😁

Put some real arguments and explanations out in the open😁

He's miserable, honestly, but I can cheer him up when I show up😁

What else am I supposed to do? I'm stuck in this mess😳

Honestly, I’ve been there myself. I once sat through a session with a therapist who essentially just spent an hour echoing my own thoughts back to me—rephrasing things I already knew perfectly well just to make them sound more professional. It wasn't exactly a revelation; if anything, it felt like a rather expensive way to hear myself talk. I can only hope this next doctor turns out to be a bit more insightful and actually offers something useful.

This happened because I was stuck in a massive depression for ages and didn't seek help, so eventually, it just spiraled into intense anxiety. When you combine deep depression with high-functioning anxiety, things get messy. Once everything hit a breaking point, I finally went to see a doctor. And look, I am absolutely not a danger to anyone; it’s just how my anxiety manifests itself through these intrusive thoughts or whatever. It is the polar opposite of who I actually am as a person. I started taking Lexapro, and thank God, everything is fine now.

I am genuinely happy for you, Sherlock Holmes! I hope we all see this kind of breakthrough soon.
I actually have my first appointment scheduled with a psychiatrist in about two weeks. I'm really hoping it provides the relief I need. Best wishes to everyone!👋

Olivia Rivera77 said:Hey, what's up. Yeah, inertia is definitely a symptom. At least, it certainly was for me.

I agree; inertia is a major symptom for me as well. It really hampers my day-to-day life because it feels like it takes an eternity just to get moving, which inevitably kills my productivity. That lack of progress then feeds directly into my dissatisfaction and low mood, creating this exhausting cycle that's hard to break.

For me, perfectionism and emotional volatility are two other symptoms that drive me absolutely crazy. I find the latter particularly draining, as I tend to feel wounded quite easily, causing my feelings toward certain people to swing wildly. This leads right back into that sense of depression, and the whole loop starts all over again... it's quite a struggle to manage.

On a lighter note, I really appreciate the doses of humor some of you are throwing into the mix here... 👍

Olivia Rivera77 said:Wait, what even is a psychotherapist...? I’ve been seeing my psychiatrist lately, and honestly, I’m really happy with how things are going. I’ve tried working with a psychologist before too, but at the end of the day, my doctor is the one giving me actual hope—telling me that everything can get back to normal and that those dark thoughts don't have to be part of my life forever.

Olivia, I really hope you decide to drop by this forum again to answer me.

I’m also struggling with MTA, and I’ve finally decided to commit to psychotherapy, but the catch is that I have absolutely no leads on a decent psychiatrist or therapist; I’m really looking for someone high-quality.

Ideally, I need a psychotherapist or psychiatrist in the San Francisco area. If you happen to be local to that part of California, please, if you could recommend yours, I’d be so grateful. Even if you aren't from the Bay Area, maybe you could ask your own doctor if they know a reliable colleague in San Francisco who specializes in this specific issue.

Thanks in advance.
