The Copyright Clearance Center is questionable at best... and honestly, using a notary feels about as useful as mailing a letter to yourself, except you’re just paying extra for the privilege.
Like I mentioned before, everything I’ve shared here comes directly from an attorney who specializes in this specific mess.
Trying to take people to court here is like trying to cut through granite with a butter knife—it's a losing battle that just leaves you exhausted.
(check out: the state of the legal system🙂
Thomas Diaz6, I'll shoot you a DM with the specifics on that overseas situation as soon as I track them down.
Look, Thomas Diaz6, your answer is pretty far off the mark. Not even close.
Why?
Because we don't have any real legal framework here to protect intellectual property. What we have is this pathetic, flimsy setup where you can technically register a project, but it’s temporary and costs you money just to stay afloat. There’s another option, which sounds almost ridiculous, but it was actually suggested by a top-tier attorney specializing in this field locally... basically, you take your entire project and mail it to yourself via certified mail.
If something halfway reasonable ever comes along, you file a lawsuit, and that envelope serves as your smoking gun. But since the judicial system here moves at a snail's pace and is riddled with corruption, that's still a losing game. In the USA, there's an archive where you send a copy, pay about twenty bucks, and get a receipt confirming they received your masterpiece—something you can actually use later to prove ownership.
I’ve got several ideas sitting on the shelf that I won't dare pitch to sponsors or executives because I'm terrified of getting ripped off. So, the ideas just sit there and wither away, much like I am.
So, here's the deal. Someone offered me a Starbucks today, and I went ahead and drank it. Later, when I set the cup down somewhere, I noticed these intense, hardcore yellow stains left behind on the surface that just won't budge.
Now, given my usual cautious approach to stuff like this... what's the consensus? Is this actually healthy, or am I looking at something else entirely?
What is the actual purpose of Starbucks anyway? Do you guys even buy it?
Why bother? (I mean, sure, the color looks somewhat natural, like some kind of plant-based carotene or whatever...)
