Best online payment cards?

So, here’s the deal—I’m currently a student, and I really need a card that actually works for online shopping. Is opening a foreign currency account or something similar even an option for me?
To give you some context, I already have a student package set up at Chase (it covers both my checking and my foreign currency accounts), but as I’ve painfully discovered, their Intel card is basically useless for anything online—it’s just not accepted anywhere.
Does anyone have any bright ideas on how I could snag a different card from another bank that won't leave me hanging when I try to buy something on the web?
