I’ve been thinking a lot lately about leadership and how much it relies on trust. We often talk about leaders being "visionaries," but there is a very thin line between having a bold new vision and just being a loose cannon who ignores the people actually helping them build the ship.

It’s one thing to disagree with a boss or a chairman on the direction of a project. It’s a completely different thing when the people who are supposed to be your closest advisors or your most loyal allies realize they're being sidelined from the big decisions. I remember working at a firm a few years back where the CEO started making massive, sweeping structural changes without even telling the department heads. The atmosphere turned toxic overnight because nobody felt like they were actually part of the organization anymore. It felt less like teamwork and more like a solo act with a lot of expensive props.

When the people who are supposed to be your bedrock start feeling blindsided, you aren't just risking a disagreement—you're risking the entire foundation of your power. If you can't even keep your own camp in the loop, how are you supposed to manage anything larger?

Do you think a leader can actually stay effective once they've lost the confidence of their own inner circle?

Yeah, so once you hit that one-year mark, you can pretty much wrap everything up—account, online banking, all that good stuff—without getting hit by any annoying fees.

Also, does every single bank use the exact same terminology? For instance, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, etc.—do they all just call their cards the same thing? Like, is a checking card always called Maestro everywhere, a business card is always a Visa Business Electron, and foreign currency is always a Visa Electron International? That seems to be how it works at New York banks... I mean, what I'm trying to get at is, does it all basically boil down to the same thing regardless of the bank?

Nah, honestly, you can only really shop with credit cards—you can't use those debit cards that are linked directly to your everyday checking account.

So, I was looking into this—Chase has this prepaid Visa card deal right now where everything is totally free for the first year. We’re talking zero fees for account maintenance and online banking, too. You don't even have to move your direct deposit over or jump through all those hoops to prove you actually "need" an account—honestly, just wanting a way to shop online without risking your main stash is reason enough if you ask me. Plus, the card lasts for five years, which is decent. I've been using it with PayPal and it works perfectly fine—tested and true...🙂
