So, I’m dealing with this whole situation where they’ve been expanding the parking zones here in Washington, D.C. I just moved into my new place about two weeks ago, and when I first parked right in front of my building, it was totally free. But then, last Saturday, the folks from NYC Parking rolled up and declared it "Zone 2"—which means now I have to pay. Since I had no idea the rules had changed, I ended up getting hit with two tickets, totaling $167. A guy from the next street over told me he went through the exact same thing—he actually went down to Broadway to file a complaint, though he wasn't specific about how he handled it. He mentioned that because they hadn't even installed the payment machines yet, they ended up voiding his fines. Does anyone have advice on what I should say when I head down there? Like, what’s the best way to play this so I can get out of paying?
